The Dragon's Tail (or is that tale?)

Luckily, YHC was in bed by 10:00, so plenty of rest before the Q at SNS. But, it was a long day. It was my day to home school my two girls so the M could work. After dominating the Letterland lesson, we crushed counting to 100 by fives and tens. I was mentally exhausted. YHC did rebound for science and P.E., and then, in the spirit of my kids missing being at school, cooked up some droopy square pizza for lunch. [Read More]

Three Years

I’ve been in F3 for almost as long as I’ve been a dad! That percentage of time will just keep growing, mehopes. Here’s a look back at the last three V-days with F3-JP: 2019 2018 2017 (best I could do. Raleigh’s only written 3 BBs this year, as an indication) FNG Check - Mission and Disclaimer - Follow Me! Simple plan today: Find the Black Creek Greenway and head north. We’ll stop along the way for decreasing sets of Merkins and Squats (with one set of LBCs in there while the Nan’tan confirmed that our 6 was actually bruising). [Read More]

Cluster 1 of 20

14 men, inlcuding an FNG - Rob Hann - hereafter named Shoe Horn, participated in a fitness event at North Cary Park otherwise known Danger Zone. It was 49 degrees, a little damp and otherwise a nice morning. The group gathered at the flag for small talk. BTW: Several men, perhaps Flacco and Rob were in the the old Site Q’s (me) parking spot. Tighten up. Disclaimer. Disclaimer and Notice F3 Nation, Inc. [Read More]

My way to the DangerZone

Team RED DZ - Photo courtesy of Shut-In DangerZone was my first post, on Aug 23rd 2019, having done pretty much nothing active for 10 years. Today was my VQ. Thanks to everyone for your support over the past three months and to those who were able to post at DZ today! I’m fitter in body, mind and spirit thanks to you all. Warm up - Take my breath away [Read More]

Morticia Addams, Wonder Bras, and Depends

A beautiful autumn morning, perfect for an F3 workout. YHC rolls in to Annie Jones Park to find Quikstop walking up and down the stairs holding a rucksack over his head. Frisco was supposed to join him for an EC run, but we didn’t see him. I wondered why the lot was so empty, and asked if Claymore starts at 05:30 or 05:45. Turns out it’s the latter, and I’m not the first Q to make that mistake recently. [Read More]

Escargot, my car go

I came across a news story Tuesday that the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees had been announced. I don’t remember how the news came to catch my attention but catch it it did. Start with the fact that two of my favorite bands were on the list (again) and that I hadn’t even heard of a couple others and I got intrigued. An hour or so later, not only had I created a little Spotify playlist to listen to at home, but an idea for a Q was developing as well. [Read More]

Redemption

So it was a day to redeem myself for my less than strong Q at Hells Bells the previous day. The workout was well designed—maybe the best is Carpex’s history—but I had not considered the effects of the Odyssey on my body. 5:45: We had an FNG (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it) so I rattled off the disclaimer (“we won’t leave you where we found you, but we will leave you in a well lit area. Limited Run, Not Limited Fun

Claymore is one of the tougher AOs I’ve had the pleasure of Q’ing. I’m slowly but surely trying to make my way around to all the AOs. I naturally gravitate towards running, and find it a nice reprieve between the reps of misery (merkins, burpIEs, etc.), but as Claymore is “limited run”, I had to fill the time with reps on reps on reps. That’s a lot of counting for this ol’ boy. [Read More]

T.E.A.M. (or M.E.A.T. or M.E.T.A.) or whatever

Thursday morning in downtown Cary’s sweatbox (parking garage), a feisty crew of 8 did some stuff. 0545 Circle Up, Pledge (led by guest Q Hi-Liter from the neighboring AO-Rubberband Man) Mosey to the bank for some warmups - the usual (Good Morning, Imperial Walkers, King Davids, yada yada yada) To the parking deck! TEAM thang - partner up and AMRAP the called exercise while your partner runs up a level, across and back down; flip flop [Read More]

Andrew Dice Claymore

Dodecahedron Of Pain I had been really nervous about the day I was going to be asked to lead a workout. More or less hoping I would just blend into the background with the rest of the PAX. Mainly just because Im not usually a person who likes to be the center of attention, which its a literal requirement during a VQ. But when the guys I am close with decided VQ week was going to be when they did it, I decided to get over my nervousness and I signed up. [Read More]
