Phoenix 2 Year Anniversary

Phoenix was my first Q site, I hope years later I did a slight better job. Nice cool morning and off we went at 6:30 Slow jog towards rock pile, few warm ups then we wrapped a rock and did some rock work, balls to the wall and peoples chair. Then we did some light pole work, and did a hill climb. Next was the Fry Daddy repeato of parking lot laps. [Read More]

The Hill is alive with the sound of Merkins (and pull-ups)

So a few take-aways from my VQ at Tortoises. Be prepared to be alone when you offer a EC 3 mile run when both @Earhart and @DiscoDuck are not there. Remembering the proper commands is harder than it looks. Sorry fellas, next time I will remember the “Recover” command. Carrying a cheat sheet with you sounds like a good idea, until you try to read it in the dark while in the process of doing an exercise. [Read More]

Good Friday - Stations of the Cross

To get our minds right for the power and solemnity of the Good Friday holiday, a team of 29 HIM commemorated Christ’s journey to Calvary in a special Danger Zone - ‘Stations of the Cross’-edition. The 14-part story of Stations of the Cross follows Jesus from His condemnation by Pilate, to His beaten, lifeless body being laid in a tomb hewn from rock. Each station featured a theme, helping us find new meaning in Christ’s journey. [Read More]

Another Rainy Day in Kryptonite City

Date : 02/19/18 , QIC Fluoride Roll up to Kryptonite for my Q with 2 mins. to spare, early for me. Surely it won’t rain 3 weeks in a row, Wrongggg!!! Granted it was a light rain and slightly cold, but rain none the less, and I hate to work out in the rain. The usual crew was there but good to see some new faces, Snots, Jigglypuff, Texas Ranger and Yogi, and Burt who is semi-regular, hard to miss him when you get out of the car, pontificating on the news of the weekend. A Toast to the HIM of Carpex

YHC became Texas Ranger on February 18, 2017 at Bond Park in Cary. Thanks to Ollie for an awesome F3 name, more cool than what I deserve. So, anniversary Q, here’s how it went: Pre warm-up: YHC announced his anniversary Q and invited the PAX to stick around after COT for a toast to the HIM of Carpex, with a little Powerade, water, and um, Scotch (The Glenlivet, my favorite). Keep It Simple

You really only have two options when it’s rainy, or cold, or gawd-awful hot and humid, or you’re a little sore, or tired, or pick any of the excuses you’ve heard from sad clowns in your orbit: you can embrace the suck and press on, or you can cash it in. Embracing the suck is transformational. It builds discipline and resilience, it provides a sense of accomplishment at overcoming challenges, and it deepens bonds with any of the other crazy yahoos out there with you. This PAX is on Fire

Dow Jones wasn’t the only one that had a rough week. YHC was again bit by some sort of bug and two colleagues went down with the flu. So what better way to cap off the week than rising from the ashes at Phoenix? 20 PAX agreed and all 21 of us hit the gloom. Though rain threatened, we stayed mostly dry. A few hearty PAX ran into the AO from various destinations, working to get in some extra miles leading up to various events this Spring. [Read More]

It's like 11's but with harder math

It was a beautiful morning at Sovereign Grace Church. The pre-beatdown discussion included questions about appropriate attire for the weather. Shorts or long pants? T-shirts or long sleeves? Turns out the conditions were perfect no matter how we dressed. Let’s get after it! Warm-Up Mosey around the front parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, cotton pickers, Sir Fazios forwards and backwards, and burpees. It’s Tortoises and I’m the Q, you know you’re getting burpees. Fight Back

8 HIMs had no interest in letting the snow be an excuse to sleep-in and in doing so resolved to Fight Back against the weatherman, Mr. Sandman, Father time and oh yes, we placed an emphasis on strengthening our backs. Betsy Ross’s contribution is not lost on the men on F3 and so we Pledge our Allegiance once again. Warm-up - 1 mosey around the parking lot, followed by another with high knee, butt kickers, shuffles to the L, shuffles to the R - Circle up for: - 24 Arm circle with coordinated Left foot circle clockwise, reverse for another 24 - 24 Arm circle with coordinated Right foot circle clockwise, reverse for another 24 - 24 Imperial Walkers [Read More]
