Back in Black

Knowing that today was going to be hot one 13 HIMS showed up early to Tortoises to get their workout in the most palatable part of the day. Having not Q’d in a few weeks I felt like some back work was in order. But then again YHC always feels like some back work is in order. But is wasn’t all work, we danced a little bit to some AC/DC. With that said… here we go. [Read More]

"Rage against the dying of the light..."

Note: Since I just got access to Wordpress, this is a catch-up Backblast from February… Seven PAX showed up in the warm gloom to practice raging against the dying of the light through the SVG parking lot. No FNGS, so straight into warmup of Good Mornings, Side Straddle hops, Double Cotton Pickers (at Crimson’s request) and Imperial Walkers. Amid the MumbleChatter, the PAX moseyed to the hill nearby for the first Thang. [Read More]

Deck of Danger...Zone, That Is

A PAX could be forgiven for thinking I was phoning in a second Q in as many days by bringing the US Playing Card Company Red Bicycle deck with me to Danger Zone this AM, but I planned several surprises to make this more than a mere deck of death. Its another variation on the Hamburger Helper theme of easy to run workouts. But don’t worry, all is forgiven Shut-In. Also, it’s not the first time someone has suggested I might not be able to adequately Q two workouts in a row (see “Don’t Sandbag Me Bro” to see how that went). Kettlebell Clock of Pain

Well, appears something going on with the fields and the regular spot that we normally meet because the gate in is locked. We decide to head to the nature park up the street because for some reason that gate is open. Gather the HIM and head over, parking in the very back near the shelter. Hop out and see this great circle that just shouts for some sort of pain. First-up though, we need to mosey to the front of the parking area for: [Read More]

Dora 2-2-2

First day of Spring and the weatherman is calling for snow, I arrive a few minutes early to check the parking lot and make sure it’s safe, it’s wet but 37 degrees, so we’re all set. Warm-Up Mosey down to the bottom of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, imperial walkers, Sir Fazios and burpees. The Thang Everybody grab a cinder block and partner up for Dora 2-2-2, 200 curls, 200 overhead presses, 200 squats while your partner carries his coupon to the light pole and back. [Read More]

The Lake is Beautiful this Time of Year (har, har!)

“The lake at Phoenix is beautiful this time of year,” I thought with a sadistic little smirk on my face. Here is how we got there…. YHC didn’t know what to expect at Phoenix this morning with the Mule going on in Raleigh. Hello Kitty planned a 6 mile meander through Cary, as well. But, the parking lot was packed with PAX and one FNG. So, after the initial disclaimer, we were off, running down to the stop sign and then “whoa, curveball” Hi-Liter heads to the right, the traditional Texas Ranger path, but YHC heads left, just keeping everyone guessing. Burpees around the world with bear crawls in between!

Woke up not expecting 46° after all the previous warm weather. Although, it was a beautiful morning to work the body, mind, and spirit. YHC/QIC did not write down what the workout regimen was going to be but he did have an idea that he contemplated over several days leading up to his Q… the goal was to put the HIMs to the test and to keep everyone as a group (so to speak). Another Rainy Day in Hell's Bells

When: February 26th, 2018 QIC: Earhart The PAX: WWW, Wilbur, Capone, Sour Mash, Monkey Nut, YHC Earhart For what feels like the 5th Monday in a row, it is raining for HBs. YHC plan for the workout was curtailed as we cannot use the Bells in the wet. So, thanks to a well-lit and roomy shelter right next door, the Q will be in there. We drag the bell’s into the shelter and distribute them around the different benches (or is it pain stations). Accountability

YHC made a last minute decision to lead Phoenix as a way to be accountable to show up and not fart sack. It is always fun to lead such a strong group of PAX! Nice weather and great way to start the weekend. At 6:30 sharp we were off to the far parking lot near fields 6 and 7 for our warm up. Warm Up: SSH x 15 IC Imperial Walkers x 15 IC Arm circles x 10 IC Reverse arm circles x 10 IC Mountain Climbers x 10 IC Merkins x 20 OMD Thing 1: [Read More]
