Against the Wind

YHC asked about the Dante’s Peak mileage record last week. An innocent question, and not expected to turn into a thing. But since Sooey had the Q the week before me, he took it as a challenge and ran us 3.3 miles. Now it’s up to YHC to top that. Let’s see how we did. Warm-Up Mosey over to end of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, copperhead squats, planks jacks and copperhead merkins. [Read More]

Hello Turtle

YHC has yet to Q at the premier limited running AO in all of Apex on a Wednesday, and with an open spot on the schedule, I jumped on it. 4 for an EC loop around the peak of good living, tclaps to Earhart, GTL and the Duck man for rolling with me. The time is 0530 and we’re ready to go with 17 studs, and 3 vests present. Warmup: [Read More]

Memorial Day Tribute

On a day set aside to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice 57 HIMs made a statement of gratitude, respect and admiration for the fallen by way of sweat, tears and even a little blood. First things First: 10 brave HIMs participated in an EC Murph at 0600. Pierogi, Hermes, Oofta, Ollie, Banjo, Old Maid, Squatter, Captain Kirk, Joe Smith, Tecumseh, WWW, Sky Blue and Michelob. Excellent work gentlemen! [Read More]

Callahanniversary IV

Four years ago I found myself clinging to the fence surrounding Goose Poop Island at Pullen Park quietly vomiting into the pond. The 58 minutes leading up to that point had been brutal. Double 11’s with Dips, Dirkens, L/R Step-ups, and Box jumps. A bevy of sprints. Bear crawls for two miles. Partner carries. Pull-ups. It all culminated at the Island, where all the other PAX were doing Mary and I was doing my best to not die. [Read More]

Kettle Bell Deck of Pain

It was a beautiful morning to get our body, mind, spirit right. YHC/QIC had a plan for some KB deck of pain. The pax did not know it yet but they were going to get some time to lead during the workout. Warm Up We moseyed to the circle area for to warm-up. GMs, Cotton pickers, Sir Fazio arm circles forward and back and some overhead claps. The Thang After the quick warm-up, we mosey back to the shelter to begin our routine. [Read More]

Slippery When Wet

YHC pulled into the parking lot of North Cary Park a little early this morning, and thought about how Danger Zone is the only AO in Carpex that never has an EC pre-run. As that thought entered my mind, I saw Pet Sounds heading out for a solo warm-up run. Warm-Up Mosey around the pickle and circle up for imperial walkers, Sir Fazios, cotton pickers and side straddle hops. The Thang [Read More]

The password is "Repeato"

They say repetition is the key to mastery. If this is true then the HIM at Tortoises have reached the level of “Master” at receiving a full body beatdown. Shifu Xinkule. Prior to the workout Disco Duck, Earhart, Freebird and YHC enjoyed a relaxing 3-mile EC. It was a nice run, however we were almost tased by a female Apex police officer for running on the road instead of the sidewalk. [Read More]

Shakespeare asked "What's in a name?" The answer: Pain.

So my timing is getting a bit better. Some of the PAX finished on time, others were just a few seconds behind. And I even had Snots giving me updates throughout the entire workout. Warm Up Good Morning, Windmill, Arm Circles, Steve Earle Thang 1 So no one noticed the secret behind the exercises I picked. Let’s see if you can spot it now. Mile Run - We started out on a 1 mile run with a few stops along the way. [Read More]

Traveling Band

YHC woke up excited to Q his first kettle bell workout. Hopped in the car, pulled out of the neighborhood and glanced at the clock. 5:30. @#$% that’s the starting time for Hell’s Bells, I’m already late. Panic shoots through me. Then I wake up, for real this time. Grab the phone and see it’s still four-something. Everything’s gonna be all right. Warm-Up Every man grabs a kettle bell (a “travelling” kettle bell) and we mosey down to the circle for side straddle hops, hillbillies, Sir Fazios and cotton pickers. [Read More]

Lady Luck

I don’t always leave my Qs to the whims and fancy of Fate, but when I do, I prefer dice. Here’s what we did: The Warm-Up (Beaker’s Beginnings) Jog to the end of the lot for SSH, good mornings, SFACs, Franklins, IWs Jog back to the shelter The Thang (Beaker’s Beatdown) PAX assemble in a circle each with a kettle bell (A kettle bell, I think you mean kettle bellS - Kubota).
