Lulu's VQ & 8 months of gloom

Looking back on 8 months of the gloom, since my first post at SNS, I can’t imagine life BF3 (before F3). I remember feeling the hook and leaving Bond Park that morning wanting more. Needless to say, F3 and the PAX have since become more than an early morning workout for me. F3 is brotherhood, accountability, mental and physical exercise, discipline, growth and now (thanks to Shut-In’s not so optional invitation to Q) practice in leadership. [Read More]

Sometimes you have to get a little dirty...

…at Dante’s Peak. After stepping outside about 5:15 a.m. this morning, YHC realized that he lucked out with good temps and dry conditions for his VQ day. However, it turned out that it wouldn’t stop the PAX from needing that towel in the trunk for their drive home. 23 PAX were ready to roll this morning - no FNGs and everyone on time, so we were off. Warm-up Quick jog to the basketball courts, by way of the hill. [Read More]

I've Got Those Beer Mile Blues

22 PAX (23 if you count someone who joins up at 6:27) including 2 FNGs gathered this morning at scenic Apex Nature Park. No shovel flag, no site Qs, but those in attendance came in anticipation of seeing a little merlot spillage from YHC. Not to be. Disclaimer given and were off. Your Lucky Day!

YHC signed up weeks ago (months even?) to Q at the infamous Field of Dreams. Lots and lots of real estate, a multitude of options, what could go wrong? And still. There it was Monday night at 10pm…what to do, what to do? Quick message to the site Qs confirmed my fears…my lack of knowledge of the AO would be a hindrance. So, go with what you know, amirite? In efforts to kickstart my metabolism[i], I tossed a last-minute “EC” option out there. [Read More]

#32 at Bounty Hunters

23 men embraced the gloom this morning to join in a birthday celebration at Bounty Hunters. YHC must first apologize to the white Lexus SUV that was forced off of the road this a.m. and to the fine police force of Apex as a calculated and skillful pass was performed on the double yellow lines of our very safe downtown area. YHC then arrived on 2 wheels, responsibly parked my truck in front of a fire hydrant, and jumped out to give the 1 minute announcement. [Read More]

"Hey Cally, did you see that rainbow?" (x 12)

Beautiful morning for a workout, eh? Six men showed up for a quick 2.25 mile EC run around parts of Cary I’ve never seen before. Back at the parking lot with plenty of time, the rest of the PAX started pouring in one after the other. All in all, a total of 25 men showed up in the gloom to push themselves and their brothers to put in some hard work. [Read More]

May the Murph Be With You

The second week of Bounty Hunters kicked off with 19 strong, including 1 FNG. As Water Wings fumbled his way through Open Out’s half made flag YHC fumbled through the disclaimer. 0545 and some change and we were off to the American flag for the warmup. Before warming up we took in a moment of silence to reflect/pray for our government, military, and freedoms to kick off National Prayer Day. This was then followed up by the Pledge of Allegiance. Feels like Merkins

From the time YHC’s bowels awoke him at 4:56, it just felt like a merkin kind of day. You know how that is, amrite? Ma Bell’s Qing, you know there will be merkins. Goose and I arrived to a reluctant group of PAX. I mean, it’s 70 degrees out already. Let’s get out of those cars! By the time 5:45 struck, we were 15 strong. Let’s go. Into the park to the first ntersection for Warm-Up [Read More]

Ask and You Shall Receive

After wrestling the Q away from Hotspot, picking up Biner and seeing no bat-signal at PBX’s, YHC rolled into a darkened Apex Nature Park. On the way in, we passed a group of runners (the usual suspects) – Hotspot, Michelob, Pet Sounds, and Old Maid. As we gathered in the gloom, Pet Sounds mentioned that he would like something a little run-lite since we’ve logged so many miles in F3 this week. [Read More]

Flood Zone - Carpex version

Some large number south of 40 PAX assembled at the Senior Center for SNS/Vesper on a beautiful dry morning, with no concerns about the park flooding. One FNG care of Moore from Churham and after the disclaimer, we are off. Brisk run through a short greenway path to the Community Center.
