Fly, Eagles Fly! (5 Feb 2018)

13 Hung(over)ry PAX showed up at Wolverine for holy-cow-that-was-an-amazing-Superbowl-so-GO-EAGLES beatdown. Temps were modest for January, no rain, and no last-minute additions. Somebody had to help Hi-Liter with his strap-on (Breathtaker, that is). Welcome and disclaimer to Tubeless’ Father-in-Law Dennis, and we’re off to the races. Warm up: A moderate mosey pace down to Davis Drive Middle, with a little side-shuffle left and right along the way. Circle up for 20 SSH IC, 15 mountain climber IC, 15 plank jacks IC, 15 merkins IC. Infinity and Beyond

Happy to be back heading up #TeamFOD this morning. 13 more pax decided to as well. Looked like 5 enjoyed a new signature EC run in as well. We aren’t all blessed to have AOs within running distance to our houses, people. (At least you don’t do like some pax, whom shall remain nameless, and make them run to you and name the EC run that you only half partake in after yourself. [Read More]

Homecoming

Shakin’ Not Stirred was the first place YHC posted with F3, and it’s always felt like home to me, so I was very excited to Q here for the first time. Warm-Up Mosey over to the community center parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, merkins, plank jacks, imperial walkers and burpees (at this point YHC really was just trying to get warm). The Thang Mosey over to the shelter at the boat house to find that there were more PAX and less room than YHC expected. [Read More]

The Gates of Koka Booth will not prevail against Us.

Date 11/13/17 QIC: Fluoride +6 Awesome Pax I arrived at Koka Booth barely on time to find 6 Pax running in the parking lot. I got out of my car and asked why they were running, and the reply was to keep warm. It was that kind of morning, in the low 40’s and raining, a day when most folks would elect to fartsack, but not the brave men of Carpex. [Read More]

Try Not to Poop Yourself

As #RespectWeek winds down, there was one last Friday flurry of RESPECT Qs before the finale tomorrow at Phoenix. YHC had actually signed up for this Q before the concept began, so it was fate. And I knew I had to bring it, when I saw 22 pairs of eager eyes staring at me from the gloom - well, 21, ‘cause Freebird came in on 2 wheels as we were saying the Pledge of Allegiance. [Read More]

Get your kicks...

YHC was questionable Tuesday night as a chronically painful achilles tendon was joined by a strained hamstring courtesy of some lunch-time ultimate on Tuesday. To leave my fellow Tortoises without a Q on such short notice just wouldn’t do. Luckily, a night of sleeping with a heat wrap on the hammy and a handful of ibuprophen had YHC feeling much better once the alarm went off. Off to Apex for some limited running! [Read More]

The 1%

In past wars, the war effort was a national effort. The entire country got behind both world wars and in Vietnam, the draft touched families across this land in all economic groups. For the war or against the war, the war effort was front and center at family dinner tables coast to coast. That was then. For my time in the military, the 80’s, who knew that was relative “peace time” for the American military. [Read More]
