Getting FAT w/ Red Baron aka Eagle One

With Eagle One in town, you know him as F3 Red Baron (but truth be told he will always be Dad), I had to ask the QIC’s for this day if YHC could steal a spot. Tclaps to Red Ryder for stepping aside. Brother, I owe you one. So, with Red Baron sitting shot-gun to Wolverine we went. Pax huddled up, with an FNG on-hand and a stellar disclaimer, we were off. [Read More]

Carpex Challenge 2018 is in the Books

Congrats to the 36 that participated in this year’s challenge. In the end, very few completed all 3 Fs, and in fact, not many were able to post at every AO in 2018. Perhaps I made it too difficult this year, or maybe I didn’t do a good enough job marketing the challenge. But I think it’s more likely a statement of our growth. In the end, it was successful, because I know that it made some number of PAX push themselves a bit more and get out of their comfort zone. [Read More]

Yoda, you seek Yoda

On NYD Yoda’s manhood was attacked by a 12 year old. Today he was invited to Carpex to defend his honor. Hear more about it here: https://soundcloud.com/f3pickupthesix/pick-up-the-six-yoda-ep-17 Now, to the reason we’re really here, a beatdown. 13 gathered on a cool and misty day in downtown Cary, with a site-Q leading the way. Warm-up: Run over to the bank for GM, SSH, Sir Fazio + Overhead clap + Fazio, Imperial Walkers The Thang: [Read More]

Liverpool Loves Dips

Feeling like the ankle is getting back to full speed, and with the Thanksgiving convergence coming up, YHC knew he needed to shake a little bootcamp beatdown rust off. There is no finer AO on a Monday morning at 0530 on Davis Drive than Wolverine, for said beatdown. Oh, but first HIM of all HIMs Build-a-Bear called a 0455 EC run and YHC felt obliged to join. Grizzly Bear Ollie was there to boot and it was a wonderful 3 mile loop. [Read More]

DZ for the prevention of DVT

YHC has been on the road a fair amount which adds a bit of stress both at home and on the body. Today’s DangerZone hopefully aids with prevention of the latter while I hope that the nice long Thanksgiving away will help with the former. I was recently interested in what one should do when traveling long distances to prevent problems associated with sitting on in a tiny aluminum tube for many many hours. [Read More]

The Road Less Traveled...backwards

It was several weeks ago at Full Metal Jacket when some Q (I’ll just say Hi Liter or Riptide to cover my bets) called 7’s and in a very respectful and diplomatic way, Callahan screamed out from the PAX that we’re doing them wrong. He continued that 7’s were not just shorter versions of 11. He then grabbed his ball and went home. Being a good person, I wanted to make sure he was ok so I reached out to him and asked him what he meant and how could I make things right. [Read More]

10/5/18, The Liuzzo Scale of Magnitude of Vanillaness

5 for 7800° EC 3 mile run around the glorious Symphony Lake. 22 were there for the start of the standard issue vanilla boot camp, one could not handle the pressure and had to leave early. After the Pledge of Allegiance, we jogged to the parking deck for a standard Shut-In warmup followed by 70 LBCs in Cadence. Then went down the stairs and got in position for BTTW 5 count down the line and back, then we did some more LBCs, then we partnered up for Dora 1,2,3 with 100 Merkins, 200 calf raises and 300 LBCs. You're So Extra

YHC comes tearing in to the parking lot at Waldo Street in DTC @0540…there is a large crowd gathered nearby. Larger than normal. What ever shall we do? Sabre has an FNG in tow, so YHC gives a quick disclaimer. This is gonna be fun. Warm Up First exercise, Pledge of Allegiance Calf stretch Mosey to the big circle to show off for early commuters Lots of mumblechatter SSHs x 50 Less mumblechatter Cotton pickers, Hill Billies, Plank Jacks, Merkins on my down AND up, maybe something else YHC forgot Extended warm up with Jack Webb - counted up to 10 merkins/40 air presses Did I say 10 burpees? 11 x 2 = 22

Second Q ever for YHC was to the point with some room for improvement. Cadence counts are getting better and everyone had fun… I think. It was quiet, not much in the way of mumble chatter for this beatdown. Thanks to the 18 that showed for the track work and 22’s. It was a beatdown and according to GTL possibly a new record for distance with the 3.5 miles we racked up. [Read More]

Drop Your Sticks for a Route 66

AO: Phoenix August 18, 2018 Keeping with the mid-August pain pticks theme, and not to be outdone by Bluewater’s Death by Dora mini-Murph at Slippery When Wet yesterday, YHC and Build-a-Bear dutifully planted a minefield of concrete and PVC for a lovely morning’s fun. Site Q Texas Ranger led a pack of 4 HIM’s for the EC run (+ Ollie, Sosa & Chipper - who had a rare Saturday M-pass to join us).
