Have you met Dora's twin sister? (she's a lil' cray cray)

As always, I am impressed with the PAX. There is always little humming and hawing at the begin of a workout, but no matter what you throw at them, they always finish strong. And most often, with time to spare. So you better have some extra work for them so they can get their fill. Warm Up The gates were locked so we ran from the street into the 1st parking lot on the left, did a quick lap and circled up for SSH, Steve Earle, Goofball, Bobby Hurley, Good Morning (Because you can’t…you know the rest) [Read More]

A-Team 4/23/18: Day 1 -- The 1960'S

The week of Smokey begins with the music of the 1960’s. Aretha Franklin, The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and many more joined us in the gloom for a sand bag work out. We started with a brief run up to the parking lot for warm ups. Apparently, YHC was filled with Q-drenaline and Hot Spot had to catch up with him on the run to let him know he had left everyone else behind. The Hill is alive with the sound of Merkins (and pull-ups)

So a few take-aways from my VQ at Tortoises. Be prepared to be alone when you offer a EC 3 mile run when both @Earhart and @DiscoDuck are not there. Remembering the proper commands is harder than it looks. Sorry fellas, next time I will remember the “Recover” command. Carrying a cheat sheet with you sounds like a good idea, until you try to read it in the dark while in the process of doing an exercise. [Read More]

CamoKoozie!

DOW: 4/3/18 QIC: Flip Flop PAX: can’t remember, but there were either 11 or 13. Yeah I forgot to write the BB, but @shutincarpex so kindly reminded me. So here’t is…as best I remember. I literally had never been to FMJ. The M works out on Tuesdays, so I stay at home and get my girls ready for the day, which is usually not quite up to the wife’s standards. You know, wake up late, girls in mis-matching clothing, shoes on wrong feet, toothpaste in unbrushed hair…. Hidden Hills of Apex

Temps in the mid 40s. A perfect day for a strong group of 21 PAX to log a few miles and eat some hills for breakfast. Good to see Yoda make the trip from Raleigh again, and his guy Curry. This was YHC’s 2-week delayed birthday Q, after being sick with the flu on my actual birthday. Thanks to Burt for the beer lesson and for bringing me the gift of various of Anheuser Busch products (you know, because Michelob). [Read More]

Hills, Benches and Rocks - Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

After a week of vacation in the mountains YHC was anxious to jump back into F3 this week! Since I was a bit out of shape from too much beer and pizza I invited (guilted) Crimson into co-Q’ing with me this fine Monday. Last night as we were planning our co-Q my M gave me some funny looks as we discussed “Dora” and “Mary” but I digress. A cool, crisp “spring” morning greeted 12 PAX at Apex Community Park. WHAT ARE WE DOING

Thursday Morning. Showed up early to setup the Ciabatta (more to come on that) stations and scope out the site. PAX are assembling around the flag as the Raleigh Clown Car pulls in. Yoda flung open the door and you could tell he was already in High MC Gear. Quick announcement from the Q and we are off. Warm-Up Fellowship pace jog around the track. Buttkickers, High Knees, Side Shuffles included. [Read More]

Good Friday at DP with Power of 3

A great morning for a special Good Friday workout at Dante’s! After some early morning recon (the soccer fields are OPEN) and some EC with Disco Duck, we gather around the flag for a pledge and then a mosey up the hill to the right. YHC mixed in butt kickers, high knees, backwards runs, and even some bear crawling. We make it to the basketball court and circle up for: [Read More]

46 Give or Take

Last day at 46 and YHC is excited and ready to start the week off strong. It’s cold, but not as cold as expected. We get a good crowd full of great men, the clock hits 05:45, let’s go! Warm-Up Mosey over to the parking lot next to The Hill and circle up for imperial walkers, cotton pickers, Sir Fazios both ways, and plank jacks. The Thang Mosey over to the basketball courts, stopping for one burpee at the first light pole, two burpees at the second, etc. [Read More]
