Accountability Revisited

Accountability - sign up for the Q slot after a long week out of town to ensure that you post. Accountability revisited - repeat of before, so why not repeat the workout. Hard to believe that we did this back in February 2018 the first time. There were several modifications though since was my first running Q after recovery and with Green Mile down the road our hi tempo guys had an additional option. [Read More]

Better Late Than Never

Eighteen PAX gathered this swampy moonlit morning at Carpex’s original limited-run AO, Tortoises. With the Dark of All Helmets fan club gathering happening over at SNS, YHC was very pleased with the turnout. Disco Duck and Frisco were already doing some EC, alternating intervals runs and pull-ups. YHC started to caution them that they might regret that later, but decided they would find out soon enough. No FNGs, but practice makes perfect, so let’s run through the disclaimer anyway. [Read More]

The answer to Life, the Universe and Everything....

YHC didn’t sleep very soundly the night before Q-ing at Phoenix, and wasn’t sure why - perhaps the anticipation of clocking another year old and wiser (?) or perhaps the gnawing feeling of a half planned Q. Whatever the reason, I found myself wide awake at 5, so used the time constructively to complete the Q plan and put in a solid 45 minutes of EC around the beautiful Bond Park……by 06:25 there were only a couple of other PAX beginning to form a rather anaemic looking circle in the senior center parking lot…. Not enough... no problem

Filling in for the legendary @www is no easy task. Prepped the workout and all plans are in place. Until Texas Ranger posts on slack “might not be enough cinders”. When I showed up on site and ran quickly to see the cinder count, I thought I should be good with about 10 or so Pax standing around and roughly 9 min to “go time”. But… cars continued to roll in and by the time we began it was 19 solid HIMs waiting for some fun. [Read More]

Aging Gracefully

Whoever said getting old can’t be fun? What better way to celebrate your birthday than challenge and push yourself beyond what you thought capable? Even better if a bunch of your friends are pushing you too! 22 HIM ventured out to the mean streets of Bond Park to ring in Franklin’s 49th and YHC’s 48th. Welcome to FNG Huckleberry, named for declaring his favorite movie as Tombstone. 17,884 days down; 1 to go.

What a great morning! We had EC runners & ruckers; ME boot campers, ruckers, stretchers and rehabbers; 2 FNGs; visitor from New Bern; and a wide spectrum of guys who have been with Carpex from its earliest days to those who have been posting for just a few days. As it was stated often today, “Who has it better than us?” On the eve of my 49th birthday, it’s safe to say that I am in the best physical, emotional and mental shape I’ve been, in a long time.
