I would have stayed in bed, but...

It was a brisk, dark, chilly morning at Flirtin’ With Disaster. One stalwart HIM, Chipper, got in a little EC run while the rest of us slowly made our way to the parking lot. Well, most of us were slow, one of us were late. Everyone loves that late guy! It’s 5:30 AM and we slow mosey out of the park across the street and into the large Lowes parking lot for: [Read More]

I've Never Seen Vertical 4 Corners

In keeping with the spirit, I’ll be brief. 11 PAX (including Great Britain’s ambassador to Carpex; great to have Arsenal out) showed up in downtown Carpex for some parking deck fun. Jogged to the little used Town Hall parking lot for warmups (The usual) Mosey over to the top of the parking deck for some vertical 4 corner 7’s (or, as some people call them “Sabans”). Starting at the top with 6 Burpees. [Read More]

WE READY

AO: Slippery When Wet QIC: Staubach It was an honor to do my VQ with this great group of men. I am very appreciative for F3 and all that is has done for me in my life. Thanks to @bluewater for getting me out there last June. Here is my VQ backblast: It was pretty nice, about 40 degrees and a little damp. My nerves were high as I headed out for my VQ. [Read More]

Leading From The 6

So I’ll write my normal Frisco style HIDA BB below but after seeing Half do something at the office today I decided to put some HIM stuff first. As Half was walking down the hall he noticed a hair on the ground behind him and quickly ran back to check to see if it was one of his (it wasn’t). Still he picked it up and dropped it in a small golden case he carries. [Read More]

Powerlines

We began the workout bright and early with a strong showing of 25 HIM’s. The weather was cold and damp but none of us regretted leaving the cozy fartsack for a morning of hard work and fellowship. Warm-Up Sooey started us off with a light jog to the parking lot. SSH: 15, Good mornings: 10, Merkins:25, PlankJacks:15, Mtn Climbers:15, The Thang 1 Another short mozy down “Powerline hill”. 7’s Burpies at the top and Merkins at the bottom. [Read More]

Friday Morning Murph

12 HIM’s posted on a chilly January morning for what YHC announced would be a Murph. Well, it turned out kinda that way, with legendary mumblechatter. Joe Smith - you shoulda bought a Maytag. EC departed 0510 on schedule, route modified due to ice: YHC, Poolee, Wonderbread, Denali, Chanicleer, Joe Smith , Grease Monkey. Warm up: Good Mornings, Windmills, Michael Phelps (in consideration of the Murph to come) The Murph: [Read More]

I Thought Disney Was Warmer

Day 4 of #QSwapWeek had YHC and Yoga Mat repping the squad…..with no Carpex flag. Whoops… Lots of guys showed up for this one. We can recount them in the blurry picture to be sure. Warmup - Yoga kicked things off with a warmup that by the end felt more like a beatdown! Merkins and shoulder work. The Thang Run to the big giant parking lot one would typically only find in Orlando pulling up to the most magical place on earth. [Read More]

Colt 45

Figured this was a nice nod to the Marine Corps’ chosen sidearm, the Colt 1911 Marine CQBP M45-A1 .45 ACP Pistol . Here at Full Metal Jacket, we are used to close quarters, and we went into battle today. 2 hearty youth (@michelobcarpex and @sub)joined YHC for 3 extra credit laps around the Salem homestead. FYI, one lap is a little over 1.33miles if you’re looking for extra credit running in the future. [Read More]

Carpex Challenge 2018 is in the Books

Congrats to the 36 that participated in this year’s challenge. In the end, very few completed all 3 Fs, and in fact, not many were able to post at every AO in 2018. Perhaps I made it too difficult this year, or maybe I didn’t do a good enough job marketing the challenge. But I think it’s more likely a statement of our growth. In the end, it was successful, because I know that it made some number of PAX push themselves a bit more and get out of their comfort zone. [Read More]
