Angst rock

Low mileage workouts are not usually my thing. And Qing them especially not. But that’s the fun bit about the CARPEx Challenge. You get to push boundaries and explore new things. This was probably the Q I prepped for more than most recent ones. My main goal was to keep the running to 0 so lots of time to fill. Hope the boys enjoyed. EC: Went for a little run beforehand. Welcome back to Ironpax

Weinke Admittedly YHC has only posted at Tortoises once prior to this Q. I am familiar with the site as it’s the closest AO to my house and have been to a Hell’s Bells or 2. Having never Qed a “limited run” workout before, I thought would could work better than an Ironpax inspired workout? Blocks are already on site so it was perfect. I blended weeks 2 and 4 for a special kind of suck. [Read More]

Balls and Diamonds

YHC got late notice on Monday from Frisco that he was isolating due to possible COVID exposure, so he would not be able to Q. YHC’s Qs had been in a rut of late: Dora, Sevens, blah… wanted to do something different this time and given the short notice, would be doing so more or less on the fly. Seven PAX at the start in a damp, but well-lit Claymore parking lot. [Read More]

Build-A-Bear says I do CDDs the BEST!

Lonely EC run and a small group this morning. Wrench was already out in the gloom on a 9 miler and Callahan set out for a little appendix-free mosey. We welcome out of towner Fudd, and off we go. **Warm-UP **Mosey down the street for some Good Mornings, Windmill, SSH, Steve Earles, Thrusters, Plank Jack, and Mnt. Climbers. Mosey to Middle school track **Thang One **Starting at the “Twelve O’Clock” position we Prisoner Run around the track stopping at the 3, 6, 9 & 12 positions and completing the same number of reps of called exercises: Diamond Merkin, L/R Jump Lunges, CDDs, Jump Squats. What happens in the Blind, doesn't stay in the Blind

This morning was another chilly day…there were plenty of sleeves at post time 0530. Some of those sleeves came off as we got warmed up, others didn’t. We’re in a weird spot right now CARPEX…beautiful days and chilly mornings. Today’s highlight (or lowlight depending on how you look at it) was literally hearing every hunting story Bubba has ever had. I feel like he lives in his blinds…and apparently drains entire lakes of their frogs for his witches brew he concocts. [Read More]

Runner's Arms Fixed Here

Sick and tired of being made fun of by Flip Flop, a few runners took a break from The Maynard to work on some other muscles. However, runner or not, today’s workout pushed everyone a little out of their comfort zone **Warm-Up **Circle up for some Good Mornings, Windmills, Steve Earles, Arm Circles **Thang One **With everyone standing in a circle I called out exercises to be completed for 1 minute OYO (w/30-second recovery), except for those standing in front of the fun toys I brought. Stuck between a rock and a hard place

OK, so the Apex PAX (A-PAX for short) are clearly more smarter, better looking, and enjoyable to workout with than the Cary (basically Durham) PAX (CAR-PAthetiX for short but not really). I rolled out my new Dora et Trois concept again in today’s DP Gloom and they took to it like moths to a flame. It definitely had nothing to do with my ability to explain the workout, or an arguably better setup at DP than at Whoville earlier this week. [Read More]

Some Kettle Bells are made of Tin2Iron

The PAX didn’t know they were posting for Hell’s Bells 2.0 in the Gloom this morning, which made the surprise all the more worth it! Tin2Iron is a difficult workout to plan due to the no running rule. As a Q, you want a good, hard workout with plenty of sweat…so my choice for getting hearts pumping was a massive amount of kettle bell swings! Fun times were had, here’s the workout: [Read More]

Horton hears a...Who understood what Tang just said?

Day 2 of Tang’s Return Tour resulted in sweat angels, confusion, and Bolton nearly dying. We had 10 PAX post, mostly all between 0528-0530, so I was pretty nervous for awhile about working out alone…I had a month of that in Cali and wasn’t about to repeat again. Nevertheless, the PAX rolled in, and after a few intros we set off. Bolton wasn’t sure at first about rucking or bootcamping, but he was persuaded to be our 9th camper…a decision he voiced many times that he regretted throughout the workout. [Read More]

Just a bunch of Divas at Claymore

32 days between posts built a lot of pressure up to make my VQ legit. I’m biting off Qs every day for the next week and wanted to start it off the right way. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to get back to work with the boys (insert TOP GUN volleyball scene gif “here”). All I could hope for today were motivated HIMs, great weather, no car trouble, and some exhausted looks at the end of the workout…of those wishes, at least I got some beautiful foggy/muggy weather to work with!
