Pajama Party @ FWD

Little late here in writing this BB….sorry folks! Tuesday, 11/20. 17 HIMS met up at FWD for a morning full of fun, some, 1, still wearing Pajamas. But I am no fashion police. Quick intro to the PAX and we are off. WARMUP Quick jog from the parking lot, to the first playground. Dang its dark. First fail of the morning and we are only a minute in. I did a recon the day before and thought, why don’t we use this first playground? Wheelbarrow Squats. It's a Thing.

Since I needed to work off some of the extra Thanksgiving helpings and the frustrations of spending almost 5 days with my in-laws, we started the day with a little EC Run. I was joined by Michelob, Denali & Chanticleer. 0530 Here we go. We take the long way around the lake to the bottom of the hill at the large parking lot. Warm Up Good Morning x 5. That’s enough. Thankful (especially for FNGs on Thanksgiving)

YHC is thankful for many things; my loving family, a full table this Thanksgiving, and a purpose-driven career. But, above all things, I’m thankful for the blessings of FNGs on Thanksgiving Day. More to come, but first: The annual Thanksgiving Convergence means the men of Carpex descend upon the finest AO in all the land, Bradford’s Ordinary, and this year the weather right-perfect for a proper beatdown. EC run waves launched at 0600 and 0630 (psst, Frisco showed up at 0538 texting YHC, “um when are we starting? [Read More]

XXX

11-19-88. It’s a number I’ve recorded a ton of times, and now it’s 30 years in the past. Warmup. This is Kryptonite, you get no warmup. Follow me out to Ederlee and the lake greenway entrance. Pause for 30 merkins, OMD. Partner up for a catch me if you can around the lake with 8 cadence prisoner squats (or just sprint if you’re Flip Flop). Rendezvous at the fence. 10 penalty burpees followed by 30 LBCs, IC. [Read More]

Very Slippery

20 great men got up and came out to SWW. We did a slow jog around parking lot to a warm up, standard 23 Merkins for Gibson, 10 Windmills and 10 PlankJacks. We ran over to Hill on Kildare, we did 5 Carolina Dry Docks on every other light pole. Then we did some hill sprints and some LBC’s, back to picnic shelter for some Frey Daddy Speed Racers. We did 15 dips followed by 1 lap, then 2 and finished with 3 laps. [Read More]

Shawshank

YHC arrived a few minutes early to see what condition the conditions were in. Hopes for spending at least part of the beatdown in the amphitheater were dashed, it was lit up but there were workers preparing it for an upcoming event. Not sure how much that mattered because the greenway around Symphony Lake was covered in water. Hermes says that can happen after five days of continuous rain. Looks like we’re gonna get wet. Just a Little Sky-Writin

9 gathered in the 37 degree gloom at Koka Booth. I took the under when the line was set at 10, so big time winning already. Hermes had a SC from a FNG…..but alas it was not meant to be. This particular FNG is looking for a workout program that progressively gets harder. Thankfully he was a no show, because I was hoping to set the bar high. Warm-up. Run to the XL sized parking lot for what seemed like a very random set of jogging, warm up exercises, backwards running, side shuffling, and other stuff. [Read More]

The 2018 Odyssey: It’s a Journey, Not a Race

In CARPEX, we have a saying “if there’s no Back Blast then either it was a Riptide Q or it didn’t happen”. But the Odyssey did happen (I have the t-shirt to prove it) and so it must to go down into the annals of CARPEX so that someday future generations will read about it and ask themselves “What the #*@(#* were those morons thinking?!?!!” So what the #*@(#* were we thinking? So glad Saban wasn't there...

Wow - love these 530 starts 25 minutes away…. or not. However, it is always a pleasure to lead and this morning was know exception. We started with 15, ended with 15 and had 16 during our mid workout count o rama. Many people that I haven’t seen at all or in a while - that is why it is great to travel. YHC looked through the last several backblasts before his Q at FWD - and noted that they only seemed to a) go to the bridge, b) go across the road to the office park or c) run up and down the Cary Park hill - so my primary goal was to do something different.
