An unofficial 4.2 miles; an Oofta sighting; and an unplanned shortcut

So my week-long Birthday Q (which by the way I thought was a thing) got off to a bumpy start. Great workout, plenty of miles, saw some new sites, just bad time management. Apparently there is no wiggle room with the 6:15 finish time. But I appreciate the PAX keeping me honest. Oh, and I told you to bring your gloves @Pet Sounds. Warm-Up Knowing time was going to be my biggest challenge, we circled up right there in the parking lot at exactly 5:30 for: Imperial Walker, SSH, Finkle Leg Swings, Hillbilly, Bobby Hurley [Read More]

The Force is strong with this one...

Props to @Hello Kitty for the idea. I’m realizing that the older I get, the more I miss being a kid. The fantasy of Episode 4, way back in ‘77, is lost on Millennials. My office mate, all of 25 years old, has.never.seen.a.star.wars.movie. None of them. Of course She also texts with all her fingers versus my hunt and peck, so…. So, long ago, at an AO far, far away, Hello Kitty hatched a plan to have Star Wars themed Qs on Internation Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you…May the fourth be with us all). [Read More]

You never forget your first time

…that’s kind of true, but when in doubt just reference the backblast. On May 10th, 2017 a dude named Dice showed up to SNS on the invite of his buddy Jamie. It was weird because all the guys were calling him “Repeato,” never the less, on a brisk (to me at the time) 54 degree morning I logged my first Carpex beatdown at the hands of a one “Earhart.” Hello Kitty was born and I’ve mildly gravitated to F3 activities… [Read More]

"Rage against the dying of the light..."

Note: Since I just got access to Wordpress, this is a catch-up Backblast from February… Seven PAX showed up in the warm gloom to practice raging against the dying of the light through the SVG parking lot. No FNGS, so straight into warmup of Good Mornings, Side Straddle hops, Double Cotton Pickers (at Crimson’s request) and Imperial Walkers. Amid the MumbleChatter, the PAX moseyed to the hill nearby for the first Thang. [Read More]

Have you met Dora's twin sister? (she's a lil' cray cray)

As always, I am impressed with the PAX. There is always little humming and hawing at the begin of a workout, but no matter what you throw at them, they always finish strong. And most often, with time to spare. So you better have some extra work for them so they can get their fill. Warm Up The gates were locked so we ran from the street into the 1st parking lot on the left, did a quick lap and circled up for SSH, Steve Earle, Goofball, Bobby Hurley, Good Morning (Because you can’t…you know the rest) [Read More]

That's not what the finest soccer pitches in NW Cary on a Thursday morning were designed for.....

Flying Circus 04/18 Another beautiful morning at the finest AO in NW Cary on a Thursday morning. Driving in without my regular clown-car-compatriots, I wondered who would show for todays installment at FC…..of course 10 of Cary’s finest HIM turned in for a beatdown from YHC. Here’s what we did: Run to main entrance & circle up 20 SSH; 10 windmills; 10 GM’s; 20 IW’s; 20 plankjacks; 20 mountain climbers Abbey road lunge walks - back and forth 13’s - Kerb / bear crawl / Derkin Run to SOCCER PITCHES: [Read More]

What do Charles Bronson and Teddy Roosevelt have in common?

Nothing actually…until today. Theodore Roosevelt once spoke about the “man in the arena.” That man was Charles Bronson. 12 HIM showed up brighter than normal. Most drove @Hot Spot, @Michelob, @Old Maid and @Squatter ran in for a little EC. Warm Up We ended up taking the long way to the basketball court from the flag. Bat Wings (20x forward arm circles, reverse arm circles, seal claps, overhead claps. @Frankiln then forced us to hold our arms out for a long slow count from 0-9) Hillbilly, Mountain Climber, Plank Jack [Read More]

Apparently a cadence count over 4 confuses people.

Some might say it was this PAX’s Kryptonite. (see what I did there?) Warm Up Windmill, Imperial Walker, Steve Earle, SSH Thang 1 Circled up in a nice patch of grass for Absolution. This is an 8 count cadence. Starting in plank position to a groiner, down to chill cut, plank jack, then back up. Trying to keep the PAX together on this one seemed to be a challenge. Not to mention no one was counting except me, so I’m not even sure how many we did. [Read More]

Some shoulder work

3 for the 2.5 mile EC run in and out - Old Maid, Hot Spot and Squatter Some others did some EC run stuff. Biner wore the breathtaker thing without smiling A total of 21 were there at the start and I think it was our FNG - Rahm that was a little late. Thang HiLighter: - Warmup including GM, HB, IW, SSH, and some penalty burpees and probably something else i am forgetting. [Read More]
