Carpex Triple down

‘Twas a chilly morning for the first annual Carpex Triple Down featuring a Ruck, F3 Phoenix, and FiA Moneypenny. Then there was also F3 Dads to boot (yes, that’s how you spell it; it’s not ’ta boot’ or ’taboot’ or any other of the bastardized versions I’ve seen afloatin’ around the interwebs). But I digress. YHC rolled in at t0 with some B-52s rocking the ol pickup. A few minutes later (we’ll call it t1) 12ish of us embarked on a cluster ruck (Triple Down Part 1) while a few others embarked on some runs. 10 old-ish HIDAs & The Kid

37 degrees and sideways rain. Sounds like a great day for a Flying Circus splashdown. To add intrigue, YHC teased a mystery guest co-Q on the Slackosphere the day prior. Just at the right moment, Earhart delivers Ninjago to the site of today’s beatdown. Warmup First exercise, the Pledge of Allegiance. Then, circle up and turn it over to Ninjago for some Hillbillies, Good mornings, and get this…Ninjago calls warm up Merkins. [Read More]

Rotate. Rotate. Rotate. Rotate.

- EC Pullups: Theisman, Red Ryder, Joe Smith, Parker, Bluewater - EC Run (that’s right I said EC run): Michelob, Wonderbread, GTL, Hi-Liter, Snots, Chanticleer, Largemouth, Denali & YHC I’ve done a variation of this workout once before at SWW but I thought it would be perfect for Tortoises so I dusted it off, loaded up the Pontiac P.O.S with some fun toys to play with and the rest is soon to be Carpex History. The 2018 Odyssey: It’s a Journey, Not a Race

In CARPEX, we have a saying “if there’s no Back Blast then either it was a Riptide Q or it didn’t happen”. But the Odyssey did happen (I have the t-shirt to prove it) and so it must to go down into the annals of CARPEX so that someday future generations will read about it and ask themselves “What the #*@(#* were those morons thinking?!?!!” So what the #*@(#* were we thinking? Water Wings Week Begins

YHC couldn’t have asked for a more glorious morning to Water Wings Week than what God blessed us with this morning. Water falling from the sky pretty much the whole morning to keep the sweat at bay. We moseyed to the usual warm-up parking lot for some SSH, Merkins, Calf stretches and Good Mornings. Next, Mosey to the far parking lot to find a rock. We setup in the parking circle for the thang. Twas The Day Before Halloween

And all through the park creatures were stirring and leaving their mark. “Has there ever been a rhyming backblast?” He said with a grin. All those laps on the field made my head spin. It was dark, cold and wet! and somewhere Frisco was thinking “what else can I drink for a bet?” We got up, got dressed and then had a good morning, then took towards the summit without proper warning. 2 Minutes DIDS us in

Disco Duck warned us that the gates of Hells Bells don’t open until almost 5:30, so I didn’t plan on being early. I drove to the shelter to set up station signs that got both compliments and flack for being laminated (no Pickles I won’t autograph one for you). FNG Two Factor met me outside the shelter and I pointed him to the normal starting spot. 5:30 came quickly after that. [Read More]

DRP - Decisions

#DRP Proverbs 25:28 - Like a city whose walls are broken through is a man who lacks self control We each made the conscience decision to take the Red Pill - resolving to do what is hard and true, over what is easy. Each day we make 1000s of decisions, some of which set the course for our lives. Your first decision today was not easy, its raining, its cold, but you knew that through this effort you would be incrementally more than you were yesterday. [Read More]

The return of an old favorite

I pulled in to Tortoise Wednesday morning - excited to lead the men who are always slow and controlled with purpose. It has been a long time for me since I had visited tortoises but was excited to be back. There was a collection of normal activity as we gathered to begin the workout- some folks doing EC pullups and Frisco doing something stupid (apparently he lost another bet that required him to wear a weighted vest during the workout).
