More than just a workout (Carpex Convergence)

Truth be told, YHC is feeling some pressure on this BB. But, in the words of a sage Carpex veteran: “Keep it vanilla and Q to the site.” - Carman Liuzzo, 57, Burt Wednesday, June 20th, will go down as an EPIC day in Carpex history. The menu looked like this: 0430 - 0500 HIMs launching for the 10.7 mile Maynard loop (14 by YHC’s count) 0505 HIMs launching for Insomnia, YHC on the route Q 0545 HIMs gather for SNS + Tortoises + Vesper convergence at Bond Park 0630 COT with 77 strong, followed by 2nd/3rd F fellowship and Chinese Downhill sharing this powerful and emotional story. Listen Up....I don't hear Pet Sounds

Date: June 13, 2018 Weather: Humid, 83 degrees, cloudy 40 Pax total, including 17 for Vespers. What a group! 5:45. No Pet Sounds (he did make Refinery). Burt takes the Q. Warm up: Mosey to the gate, head to other side of the gate for a standard warm up including 20 burpees, SSH, Merkins, Cotton Pickers, Good Mornings and Little Baby Jumping Jacks. Sprints up the hill (about 40 yards) with a prisoner run back down the hill. Didn't Mean to Asterisk

YHC had a strange Sunday night. Two brews at the pool and things get discombobulated apparently. Took a “nap” from 1900-2000, then put the kids to bed, then put on the marriage study audiobook for Monday’s 3rdF at Starbucks by Costco from 0645-0715 and proceeded to wake up with the light on, one earbud in and the clock reading 0100…and no plan for the Krypto beatdown in place. 20 mins later the beatdown is planned and the light is off. Superman Protocol

19 of the finest HIM in all of Apex descended upon the Apex Nature Park probably thinking of a nice easy transition into the weekend by the old man Q. Let me tell you boys, us RESPECTs still got some whup-ass in us. 0545 - let’s go Warm-Up Line up in 4 lines for a cadence run sung to the F3 principles jody written by a Hampton Roads PAX. I understand some of you weren’t able to hear me; sorry about that. [Read More]

Gloves optional, Shoes required

13 HIMs (most of them with shoes) met for a high-tempo beatdown at the Koka Booth Amphitheater. A handful of the pax had just spent an awesome weekend camping with the 2.0’s at Hanging Rock State Park and had some extra calories to burn off. After brief mumblechatter and confirming all Pax had shoes, we set out…. Quick jog around the lot to pick up last arrival and avoid penalty Burpees, then across Regency for some Warm-arama: [Read More]

Against the Wind

YHC asked about the Dante’s Peak mileage record last week. An innocent question, and not expected to turn into a thing. But since Sooey had the Q the week before me, he took it as a challenge and ran us 3.3 miles. Now it’s up to YHC to top that. Let’s see how we did. Warm-Up Mosey over to end of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, copperhead squats, planks jacks and copperhead merkins. [Read More]

They lock the baseball fields when it rains

It was your typical Wednesday Morning Buffet. Several arrived early for a little Insomnia appetizer. The Ruckers and the Vespers all grabbed their food to go, and the rest of the SNS crowd dined heavily on Turkish Get Ups, Bropees and Absolution. With some Twerkins for dessert. And although we didn’t start with a Good Morning (sorry Nature Boy) we did end with a Have a Nice day. And a new word was created. [Read More]

Dante's Peak Walkabout

Perfect weather greeted a group of 19 PAX this fine morning at Dante’s Peak, Carpex’s premier Friday AO. YHC was continuing with Scout Week, this time focusing on the Webelos Walkabout Adventure. The Webelos Walkabout is a 3 mile hike in nature. We encountered snakes, star (jumps), spider (man/peter parker), big beautiful rocks, and brotherhood this morning! In full discloser, there was a lot of mumble chatter on slack about how much distance we would cover this fine morning. [Read More]

Do Your Best!

YHC was serving as Senior Patrol Leader today. As with F3, Scouts is a volunteer organization. Specifically, Boy Scouts is led by youth, giving them their first taste at organization, service, leadership, and sometimes humility. Today was a lesson in all four for YHC. It felt like herding cats to get the group to start moving, not unlike any Scouting activity. Trouble was finding four volunteers to serve as Patrol Leaders.
