Hurt Box

‘Twas a coolish morning, relative to the last two months, and not quite as dank. The skies were still angry from the previous night’s storms, still spitting the occasional rain drop but hinting at lashing out again. This palpable uncertainly is perhaps why a relatively small PAX tentatively gathered at the flag. The flag itself had been tentatively planted by Smokey, creating an uneasy tension. There remained, however, an underlying current of optimism amid the groggy remains from the weekend. [Read More]

Drop Your Sticks for a Route 66

AO: Phoenix August 18, 2018 Keeping with the mid-August pain pticks theme, and not to be outdone by Bluewater’s Death by Dora mini-Murph at Slippery When Wet yesterday, YHC and Build-a-Bear dutifully planted a minefield of concrete and PVC for a lovely morning’s fun. Site Q Texas Ranger led a pack of 4 HIM’s for the EC run (+ Ollie, Sosa & Chipper - who had a rare Saturday M-pass to join us). ...Yes, there is a lake at this park

AO: A-Team August 13, 2018 Stepping in late last night to sub for an injured Pet Sounds, YHC posted what innocently turned out to be a somewhat misinformed plan for a Route 66 around the lake. Shout out to Sosa for warning of construction and related obstructions. Upon arrival and inspection of this particular AO (YHC’s first posting there), it was decided by a committee of one to modify. And, it being Monday the 13th, why not play in the parking lot with that number. #mccantsweek - Day 6 - BLAZE OF GLORY

If you don’t have Bon Jovi playing right this minute. Stop reading. Queue it up. Crank it up. Crack one. I woke up this morning and I raised my weary head. I’m a devil on the run. Thrown out of school for bringing a six pack and two guns. Well they tell me I’m wanted, yeah, I’m a wanted. And when I’m shot down, I’ll be shot down in a MF blaze of glory. [Read More]

The Games We Play

With Tour de Carpex in full swing, you just never know what kind of crowd you’re going to see. So I was pleasantly surprised when the cars kept rolling in and the PAX kept rolling out, including a nice group from Raleigh. Of course this also means the mumble chatter will be on high, but nothing YHC couldn’t take care of with a little beatdown. So after I greeted our FNG (Welcome Fiddler) we were off with a short josey over to the baseball field. [Read More]

Back to school

YHC picked up the Q for July the 5th as a replacement for missing my birthday Q a few weeks back due to IR. I did not account for the post 4th of July hangover being fully present. Never mind, great way to start the morning. Expecting a light crowd, pleasantly surprised to see 12 other HIMs show up (14 total counting YHC and of course my side kick). At 5:45 sharp, we did a warm up jog around the short loop back to the skate park for warm up. [Read More]

"PLAY BALL!" A Birthday Q Story

A couple of months ago YHC thought it was only right to honor the Carpex tradition of Qing on your Birthday, so I signed up for a Friday, July 6th Q at the infamous Slippery When Wet. Why is it infamous? Well, legend has it that back in the 80s Bon Jovi’s tour bus broke down as it was passing through Cary in the early morning hours. Back then, Cary was just a zygote that would later develop into the boisterous town we now know.
