Triple Crown

When Hola Gato put up a Q spot for the finest AO in NW Cary on a Thursday YHC immediately had flashbacks to the fun we had about a year ago when I took the lead. After a quick discussion with my shield lock about scheduling, it was decided we go for the Triple Crown and bring back the (mini) cooper. After greeting my shield lock at HFT, YHC made the trek to NW Cary arriving at 5:37. [Read More]

DORA Figure Eight

QIC: Gibraltar Date: 09/20/2019 After 7 years of not exercising in a disciplined way and with only one month of training with F3, Pivot told me if I would like to be a Q. At the beginning it sounds to me very challenging, to lead the workout with people who are really in good shape but I did not want to miss the opportunity and thanks to Torpedo I was able to schedule my Q for the last day of the VQ week. Andrew Dice Claymore

Dodecahedron Of Pain I had been really nervous about the day I was going to be asked to lead a workout. More or less hoping I would just blend into the background with the rest of the PAX. Mainly just because Im not usually a person who likes to be the center of attention, which its a literal requirement during a VQ. But when the guys I am close with decided VQ week was going to be when they did it, I decided to get over my nervousness and I signed up. [Read More]

How Many Poles Are There Anyway?

A pax of 5 arrived in downtown Cary for another evening beatdown. So after the Pledge of Allegiance we were off and running. Skipper was rucking, so he blazed his own trail, and we’d meet back up with him at the end. With that we headed off to the parking lot just around the corner. Warmup: Good Evening SSH Sir Fasio Arm Circles forward and reverse Windmills Mtn. Climbers Thang 1: [Read More]

People actually showed up

As it was the Friday of the BRR, and having not seen much activity on Slack for people planning to show up for the Rolling Stone workout, and knowing there were only moderate SCs for the only official ruck AO in all of Carpex, I really didn’t have much planned out in advance for the crew that was anxiously awaiting my arrival at 0527. That all being said, there was a surprisingly large turnout for Rolling Stone, which in fact, blotted out the Bootcampers at GT by an almost 2:1 ratio. [Read More]

Birthday Beatdown!

Good morning Pax and welcome to my birthday Q! I was too excited to sleep last night and woke up a good 1.5 hours early for the start of Phoenix. No FNG’s today so quickly through the disclaimer and pledge. Mosey around parking lot and circled up for warmup. SSH, a very slow good mornings, seal claps, and calf stretches. That’s enough of that as I needed all the time I can get for the beatdown. [Read More]

3.5875 for Rucking the Maynard

Three of us gathered at SNS start point at 0330 to get out and ruck the May May. For all three of us, it was our VRTM although Slappy had previously run the Maynard. We waited a bit for Bartman, who had been a HC the night before. A quick disclaimer, and it was 0333. I had a perfect song queued up, thinking that we’d be leaving at either 0334 or 0335 - in reference to the classic Chicago hit, “25 or 6 to 4. [Read More]

Rush Hour can be Pain(stick)ful(l)

It’s Tuesday night, which meant it was time for the finest evening 1st F AO in all of Carpex - Rush Hour! To truly make it Rush Hour, YHC strapped on my workout belt and blared some Rush tunes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. One of the things you may not know about me is that I loved Rush when I was in middle school / high school, and I was a drummer, so I was always awed at the pure genius and precision of Neal Peart.
