Start Late, Finish Early

4am. 10 month old is up and Daddy Dooty begins. Roughly 510, YHC sneeks out of nursery, dresses and hits the door in hopes to make the 520 pre run. As I come flying in, I see an empty parking lot. Luckily, Denali arrives a few min later and we take off on a leisurely stroll through Cary’s finest back roads. 542, we both realize we are going to be late getting back. [Read More]

Twas a starry night in the gloom which was ideal to bring on some Thunderstruck!

Date: 3/18/2019 QIC: WWW AO: A Team PAX: 15 For some reason, Sky Q forgot to turn on the heater. Albeit being a crisp / brisk morning, it was a blessing to be out there leading the PAX in the workout. Sooey graced us with his presence to get his walk in. Sooey is da Man because he did not wait long to get back out in the gloom. There is always one or two PAX that would not mind taking a walk with him. [Read More]

Hablo un poco de español

Buenos Dias, Hermanos. When it was announced that Liverpool and Water Wings would share their Chimbote, Peru (or is it Chipotle…) story with the Pax at a bread braking and the Q sheet was WIDE FREAKING OPEN for that day, YHC had to jump on it. Knowing we’d have a squad on hand, I was extra excited (hard to believe I know) for this one. With a resounding Yooooooooooooo at 0544, we got ready to roll out. [Read More]

Bartmanniversary IV

23 PAX turned out this fine morning to help YHC celebrate four years of gloom. That’s right, this week marks 48 months of getting after it, and it’s as if A-Team hasn’t changed a bit. PAX in the low 20’s, rain more often than it should, and a bunch of go-getters ready to hit it. A 2-mile EC led by Disco was the perfect apertif. Mosey to the front parking lot and circle up. BO BB 3/7/19: Vanilla Just Tastes Better

15 PAX entered the gloom on a 40-something degree morning in downtown Cary. A couple guys did EC - you know who you are. By the grace of the SkyQ, one of the BO twitterkeepers tweeted out that YHC was the Q for the week. YHC may or may not have remembered that. (I didn’t) In light of that, I jokingly asked @shutincarpex what he was planning to do for his Q down the road, and like a good PAX, he DM’d me his pre-blast. [Read More]

7 of Diamonds

F3 Carpex is in a great spot. I don’t mean location. F3 Carpex is healthy and growing. In some ways it seems like our growth is limitless. I cannot begin to imagine how many AOs there will be five years from now. Many AOs, on a nice morning, will have well over 20 guys post. The energy is high, the mumble chatter is relentless. But I was reminded this morning of how a small group of men can be a refreshing change. [Read More]

Mathletics

Eleven HIMs gathered in the fairly well lit, narrow parking lot of Annie Jones Park expecting a limited-run boot camp workout. This is, in fact, what was to be delivered to said PAX. First exercise, the Pledge of Allegiance. In a well-disguised foreshadowing of things to come, a high knee/karaoke mosey to the lot next to the tennis courts for… Warm Up SSHs, Good Mornings, Moroccan Night Clubs, Overhead Claps, Plank Jacks & Control Freak Merkins. Millennial Mayhem

‘Twas a lovely morning on the border of Cary and Apex, where Miss Laura Duncan once cooked some chard on a stone. 18 men gathered to pay tribute to the Millennial generation with a goal of 2000-count exercises: 1000 reps and 1000 meters of running. Dodging the expected deluge of rain, we had a fine time in the cool, soggy gloom…one might even say “moist.” YHC had found the Millennial workout on the Exicon and thought it would be a great way to challenge the PAX to a well-rounded beatdown.
