Bears v. Crabs

Pre-BB YHC delayed his departure for a short business trip to make Wolverine’s Launch happen…but the BB had to take a back seat for a few days. Worth the wait, I hope. BB Thank you, Pete Russell, for Co-Qing this great, new AO with me…pumped to be working with you. Thanks to the 29 HIM who posted at Wolverine’s launch. And thanks to ALL of CarPex for the mumble chatter that kept the buzz about Wolverine alive. [Read More]

Back to School

BB 20 HIM joined YHC on a trip down memory lane–actually, it was down Hunter Street–to visit one of my favorite spots at BH. The gloom…the pull-up monkey bars…the long distance from the park…we’re talking about Baucom Elementary School’s back playground area. We journeyed there on one of my first posts at BH. Time to go back to (the) school. The Warmup - Pledge of Allegiance at the Shovel Flag - Jog to the parking lot of Lee’s Tailor Shop…backwards run for fun on the way. [Read More]

What Sore Legs?

After a GroupMe fartsack shaming on Tuesday - the day after the 9/11 stair climbs and only a couple of days removed from the BRR - when only a handful of CarPEX PAX posted, the boys showed up in force; from the looks of it, pert’neer 40 of them. We’ll count-a-rama later. After a round of fist bumps and a doo-rag tying lesson, it was time to roll. Let’s go! [Read More]

I Believe In Me

YHC knew that after last Friday’s inauguration of V-AO #SLIPPERYWHENWET, complete with breakfast buffet, espresso-wielding baristas, and custom-initialed bathrobes for all attendees, the expectations of the PAX would be high. Like sky-high. Like towering moonshot, fly-ball-to-the-warning-track high. And I’ll be honest, YHC was nervous to be the Q shouldering this burden. Had a little self-doubt. A little lack of self-belief. But then YHC remembered the wise words that may or may not have been famously uttered by Mr. [Read More]

Still shakin' (or bakin?) three hundred and sixty five days later!

A few weeks ago, YHC was ego-surfing the now nearly impossible to find F3Nation.com backblasts when I came across this beauty from Burt. I quickly jumped on the Q-sheet and found to my giddy surprise that the 9/9 slot at Phoenix was still open. With a mix of trepidation (‘how am I going to fill up 60 minutes?’) and pride (‘definitely did not imagine I would still be getting up at 5 o’clock a year later’) I signed up to Q. [Read More]

Moderately Slippery When Wet

19 PAX showed up for the inauguration of SWW on 09/01/2017. Must have been the promise of some good ol’ Midwestern casserole that brought them in. But it was the surprise bagels and lox that really won them all over. As an added bonus SWW lived up to its name (I knew it would) with a very tolerable occasional sprinkling of rain. Here’s how the morning went: Jog to shelter parking lot (farthest lot from houses) for warm ups: -Good mornings -Side Straddle Hops -Hello Dollys -Flutter Kicks (Low Slow Flutters) -Freddie Mercurys -Homer to Marges -Std Americans – I mean Merkins [Read More]

"It's Good To Be Alive Today"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjELo3fmS-M Early this morning, before YHC laced up his brand-new sneakers, there was a post on GroupMe from the ‘Man’Tan himself, MaBell. MaBell reminded me of my mom, who always would call/send me a message the morning of someone’s birthday/anniversary: “hey sweetie, call ___________, it’s their birthday today”. Anyhoo, MaBell declared that today, August 30, was the official 4th anniversary of CarPex. He went on to praise some of the OGs of CarPex, and remind us to swell their heads for setting a foundation for what is soon to be 14-15 AOs across Cary-Apex. [Read More]
