Plain Vanilla - Old School

Today is the day before the Odyssey. Poor planning had me in the Q spot. However, location was fantastic. Old school Danger Zone. Lots of work tomorrow so goal today was get the sweat on. Work hard but nothing that would put us out of commission for tomorrow. Old school style, old school crowd of 8. Glorious morning. And in this corner...

With the upcoming Haven House Rumble, YHC thought I should try to train at least a little bit for the dance around the squared circle. It was a great morning to show up with a loosely developed plan. Watching a few clips of The One and Only Tony Horton inspired some P90x style exercises. 0545 Circle Up, Mission, Pledge, Disclaimer Warm-Up: a couple of fellowship mosey trips around the pickle with some invigorating butt kickers, high knees, and karaokes. An Ode to Angry Elf

Two years ago today, YHC stumbled out of a slumber to visit Fred G. Bond Park in the heart of Cary. Known prior to that fateful day only as Kyle John Montgomery (save “Daddy” to a couple of kids, and “Skolnick” to a group of college buddies), this sad clown was drawn to a mysterious gathering of men, looking for a good workout…and an adventure. As soon as he jumped out of his car, he was welcomed with a warm yet equally obnoxious, “Hey, what are you doing here? [Read More]

Where's Disco?

I don’t go DZ much. There are a lot of reasons: It’s in Virginia. The last time I Q-ed there the site went through a period of severe attendance drop off. I was one of the paparazzi covering the disc golf circuit when Flip Flop let the jet-setting-fast-cars-and-faster-women lifestyle of a disc golf player get out of control. Pierogi and I were childhood rivals for the affection of Magdalena, the prettiest girl in the village in Moldova where we grew up. Bigger than I expected ...

TWSS. A sizeable group of Carpex’s finest showed up and parked along Laura Duncan. Crap. There goes the planned workout. Not a problem, you can conjure up just about anything on a steady mosey. After 34 welcome fist bumps, a thorough disclaimer, an intro to FNG Paul and we were off. After a stellar weekend at F3 Dad’s Camp that included quite the libation session around a fire and more carbs and saltpeter (KNO₃) that’s remotely advised for anyone, I was ready to get after it. Exicon ABC

43 in attendance. 3 Ruckers, 16 Bootcampers, bunch of runners including those that ran the Maynard. What a way to start off “hump day”…in the doom and gloom of SNS. I am starting a series called Exicon ABC. We will be using exercises from those three (or sometimes 4) letters of the alphabet until we complete the alphabet. Today was ABC. A-Team 5-year Anniversary 7-15-19

28 HIMs showed up to celebrate 5-years of wonderful workouts on Mondays! They were led by 108 years of experience on a classic tour of the site. Warm-Up WWW started the process with the standard disclaimer. There were no FNGs. We pledged allegiance to Old Glory and took off for a short run. WWW led us in GM, Abe Vigodas, Sir Fazio Arm Circles, Seal Claps, Eskimo Merkins (they are not cool), hamstring stretch, and runner’s stretch. [Read More]

Friday, Fellowship, and Faith

17 Pax were out and ready for a solid beatdown. Partially true. Their were 17 pax there. But what started out as a fitness test quickly turned into a fellowship-pace-fitness-test-cluster. But that’s what F3 is about. It’s more than a workout and sometimes the workout is secondary to just being out there in the gloom with your bros. We got in a great beatdown, thanks to Callahan’s 3yr old “fitness test” he created but most of all we just had fun. [Read More]
