Pelotoned

QIC: Riptide. Big crowd for a muggy Riptide Q. Just as we’re about to launch, a car screams into the parking lot. It’s the triumphant return of Joe Smith. Mosey to Koka Booth parking lot for the warm up. Mosey to the rock pile, partner up, and grab a rock. Mosey to American Tower. Thing 1: Partner rock work. Partner 1 stays with the rock for 8-step rock-your-body. Partner 2 runs up the American Tower hill, does 2 burpees, runs down the hill, crawl-bears back up the hill, 2 starjumps, runs back. Backblast two-fer

Taking a page out of the high-tempo-ness of the two AOs to which this two-fer belongs and high-tempoing this mofo in one uninterrupted writing block. Clock. Starts. Now. 7:01PM start. Measured Thrice Location: TGM PAX: YHC, Parker, Snots, 1-4, Pivot, Skidmore (out of towner… sort of), Biner, Hi-Liter + Ruckers: Trike, Repeato + Pooch, Skipper Warm-up: Bring yo gloves. Bring yo water. Start your Stravas. Follow me. Leave said gloves and said water (except Hi-Liter who claims that water makes him weak) over by the buses. [Read More]

Are we still writing backblasts?

Hello, and welcome to Fastest Friday AO in Carpex! The site that never shut down. Where mileage records are set and asterisks are badges of honor. YHC put forth his best marketing campaign he could to reQruit our native #beardedmillennial but with the Covid15 around his waste, Fortnight at his fingers, and a warm and dry fartsack YHC received word this morning at 0830 he “didn’t hear the alarms.” And he’s “sorry man”. The caber toss that wasn't

It was a breezy morning as I blazed into Rolling Stone at 0526. Those not interested in a Riptide Q at GT were assembling, including a guy looking for a good ruck. My plans for doing partner work were being dashed as we only had three, but Ezekiel showed up so we have a good even number. It being 0530 at that point, we did the Pledge and grabbed a sandbag and pain stick out of my trunk. [Read More]

Who cares about the workout - Celine tix avail!

Spectacular weather, good crowd, Hermes gives F3 mission, we are off. Mosey to somewhere for basic warm up with SSH, GM, MC, Merkins and Plankjacks Head to parking lot behind doctors to test drive the Point Break rockpile Series of long-distance rock suicides involving 10 each of Curls Triceps Squats Flutter kicks while we wait for the 6 Move to covered parking area for Traveling Rock Jack Webb style exercises [Read More]

1-15-20 Point Break BLIMPS

Wordpress sucks. “Separate with commas or hit enter key”, what they mean is: list all the PAX and then we will magically auto-delete some of them so you can re-enter them. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it just me? I fall in that range between Boomer and Millenial so maybe I’m not even supposed be using word press. While I’m on this Soundest of All Pets box, when I hit enter, why does it skip a line and insist on starting a new paragraph? [Read More]

We Have Liftoff

AO Launch Day. YHC was a bit nervous about attendance because there had been zero Slack hype for this event during the lead up. Despite that fact, a lot of folks somehow showed up to be part of the emergence from stealth mode. YHC knew something major was afoot when Ma Bell decided to again venture into “the eastern regions of his former kingdom” for not only the ME but an EC run taboot. Peace at SWW / Crazy sheet abroad

YHC loves his annual (less if it can be avoided) trips to AOs below Route 1 but the Friday ones are doubly special. Once a DZ’er, always a DZ’er after all. But with the holiday-ish week upon us and the 2.0s not yet in school, tis the time to commit to a 20+ minute commute and see how the other half lives. And boy is it a different world down here in Car-ner Springs. [Read More]

Triple D Dora

This was just the most interesting picture of Miss Dora I found on the Googles. 23 PAX showed up on a brisk Monday morning to shake off the rust from the weekend and perhaps sweat out a few toxins. YHC, along with Two Factor and Sooey, took a little 2 mile EC jaunt prior to the ME. No FNGs, somewhat of a disclaimer and mission statement, recited the pledge and we were off. [Read More]

Stand By Your Man

YHC doesn’t post at 0515 workouts every week - the times I have, the numbers have been, shall we say, non-problematic. However, on this particular Halloween morning there are 17 PAX, including 2 FNGs, up and at ’em at Koka Booth. Time to move. Warm Up Mosey to the big parking lot, circle up and warm up. SSHs and some other stuff, finish off with 5 CF merkins. The Thang Partner up for Tammy Wynette intervals: Partner 1 completes 20 Merkins while Partner 2 completes 20 squats, then flip flop.
