Quest for 8 Q Challenge ... Day 2 #2 Claymore

Date: 12/15/2020 PAX: Cataracts, Chewie, EarharT, Frisco, Happy Gilmore, Intimidator, Kwik Stop, Mama’s Boy, Pickles, Red Ryder, Reentry, Roasters, Suck Up, WWW Day 2.1 of the quest. I noticed that as I’m preparing the workout, it is not that easy. I always try to make multiple workouts different so it keeps the PAX guessing. But I do have my favorite routines and the thang I have planned can be modified in so many different ways that it is not boring. [Read More]

Playing The Classic Hits

Back to Tortoise, where it all started. At the church formerly known as Sovereign Grace, YHC runs the 1.8 miles in early to get some pull-ups. Very soon, PAX started to arrive and gather ‘round the flag. It’s a cold, sleevy morning in the POGL. Even Ma Bell has the pythons covered for this 27 degree workout. First exercise, Pledge of Allegiance. Warm Up Lap around the parking lot, circle up for SSHs, Sir Fazio arm circles, Steve Earles, a single Good Morning led by Crimson, Grundle stretch and calf stretch. [Read More]

Recycled

11 PAX is a decent number for a subfreezing morning at the only AO in Carpex that has an 0515 start time. Welcome to YHC’s annual Back in Black Q! 3 PAX for a 7 minute EC run. Warm Up Pledge of Allegiance, mosey to the big Koka Booth parking lot. Circle up for SSHs, Sir Fazio arm circles, Overhead claps, Steve Earles, Runners stretch and calf stretch. The Thang Run the outer loop of the parking lot, which is around 0. [Read More]

Grundle-Dusting Comes to Cary (the Baby It's Cold Outside edition)

YHC made his virgin voyage to Whoville this morning. First time ever, and I have the Q. What could go wrong? First of all, I apparently park at the other end of the parking lot from where the flag is typically planted. Not that anyone would know, since the pin drop is in the middle of the school building. Once we figure this out, and the clock strikes 0530, there is a disclaimer given and the pledge is pledged. [Read More]

The Push

Goal: To Push Everybody Monday of Carpex Respect Week I had never Q’d a running workout, so this was a test for me. All of my other Q’s were at Tortoises or Hells Bells or Tin2Iron - all low to no running AOs. Not known as a runner, this would be a challenge to me. So I put together a few pearls on a string to get more than a mile in. [Read More]

Tour De Peak

Here’s what we did at Dante’s Peak on Friday, November 6. YHC picked up the Q from Headroom after he posted that he needed to drop it the night before. Pet Sounds and YHC for some EC pullups and running before the ME. Warm Up Pledge of Allegiance at the flag. Then mosey to the back side of the park - bear crawling the bridge along the way. Finish warming up with SSHs, Steve Earles, Moroccan Night Clubs, CF Merkins, Runner’s stretch and calf stretch [Read More]

The People's Champion

Davis Drive park has got to be one of the darkest places in an otherwise bright and somewhat beige world of Cary. Wait, is this where the Beige Bros got their name? Nevermind, I digress. It’s dark at Wolverine. Not too dark to know where to do pull-ups before the witching hour of 0530. It’s a busy Monday, with 17 PAX making the journey this morning. No FNGs, so a very abbreviated disclaimer was given. [Read More]

Kettle What???

The Carpex challenge tour continues as YHC takes the Q at the premiere (only) Carpex Kettlebell workout! Admittedly, YHC is not typically a KB guy, but as previously stated, Carpex challenge. I have a friend that posts some KB workouts on the book of face so I was going to steal one of her workouts, until I tried to do the first set of exercises and realized my bell was too heavy and I would die if I attempted that. Angst rock

Low mileage workouts are not usually my thing. And Qing them especially not. But that’s the fun bit about the CARPEx Challenge. You get to push boundaries and explore new things. This was probably the Q I prepped for more than most recent ones. My main goal was to keep the running to 0 so lots of time to fill. Hope the boys enjoyed. EC: Went for a little run beforehand. To Taper or Not?

What is this thing that is called the BRR taper? 13 men showed up at Thomas Brooks park, the site of Field of Dreams, to find out. Four were doing some EC pull-ups before the bell rang at 0545. No site Qs, no flag, let’s go. Warm Up Mosey lap, circle up. SSHs, Sir Fazio arm circles, Steve Earles, Runners stretch, Calf stretch, Pigeon stretch, and CF Merkins The Thang Pick a non-traveling rock. [Read More]
