45

Met up at the ‘flag’ with a collection of both new and old faces for measure twice. No headlamps needed. Full moon is tomorrow Measure the First: Run 45 minutes. Covered about 5.5 miles in a brisk pace but not so brisk that conversation was impossible. Enjoyed catching up with Mayflower, Torpedo, One Four and Mr. Safety. Squatter grunted once, so I suppose that’s a win. Back to the ‘flag’ right on time. [Read More]

Double Duty

51 is a lot different than 50 was last year. Just the situation - we are now back to getting after it in groups in the gloom. On April 15, 2020, we’d officially shut down group workouts. But one thing I wanted to keep the same. Do a Murph on my birthday. The day started with a run into Bounty Hunters, which depending on the route I choose is right about 3 miles. [Read More]

Cougar Town, 30-40 make 70's

The idea for this Q came from my curiosity on whether there is actually a definition of being a cougar. Reliable, first-page Google hits assure that there is, indeed. The possibility of being a cougar begins at 40 years old, with a typical 10 year gap, thus making the average cub a barely-escaped hate at 30 (coincidentally also YHC’s age). Less than 2% of US relationships meet this definition, so if you, gentle reader, are one of them, you are one of the few, the proud, the cradle-graved. [Read More]

SLT Meeting: 4/6/21

It was Tuesday, April 6 in the year two thousand and twenty one at 0530. YHC peeled into the parking lot at the Bojangles on 64 next to the Toyota dealership. I was almost late. Rounding the corner, most of my peers were still outside getting ready to breach the doors of the restaurant. I knew a handful would get in line to grab coffee and a biscuit while the rest of the gentlemen waited until after our meeting. [Read More]

To Go Where No PAX Has Gone Before

It’s probably because of spring break week. Yes, definitely spring break. Lot’s of people out of town. But could it be the weather? Less likely but possible. I know some of the Carpex PAX have been, shall I say, a bit disappointed in the lack of resilience from their brothers when it comes to posting in less-than-ideal weather. Could it be ME? Could YHC be the reason for the low numbers this morning at the premier 0530 start, standard boot camp at Olive Chapel Elementary school? [Read More]

St. Paddy's Day at Lion's Den

With better weather than yesterday or tomorrow (cloudy and 40s versus storms), an insider’s scoop preblast from the site Q, and the opportunity to start off St. Paddy’s Day at St. Mary Magdalene’s, the chances were good for a decent turnout at Lion’s Den. As I tried to put together a decent routine to match, I thought to myself that things could get interesting, depending on how many people wear green. [Read More]

Why Did This Take So Long?

Today is Wednesday, March 17. St. Patrick’s Day. I led fine men in a workout at MASH on Friday, March 12. I’m just now writing the backblast, and I have no reason why I took this long to do it. However, I’m not going to apologize. I’ll just strive to do better next time. Warm Up Easy to remember since most of my warm-ups are basically the same. We took a mosey lap around the parking lot after the Pledge, then circled up for SSHs, Sir Fazio arm circles, Steve Earles, Plank Jacks, Merkins, Runners stretch and Pigeon stretch. [Read More]

I'm sorry

Every now and again, you say something that is mean or hurtful or just plain not nice. Today was one of those days. Ten guys got together this morning at Hunter Street Park expecting 45 minutes of what F3 does best: joyful camaraderie. Instead, an ill-tempered roast busted out. And YHC is squarely to blame. After a mosey the long way around to the lady’s parking lot, we warmed up with some SSHs, Burt Jacks, Merkins, Plank Jacks, Supermen and some other stuff. [Read More]

Quickies by St. Mary's

It’s late and it’s been a long week already but today’s Lion’s Den participants deserve a BB. Even if it’s a quick one. After all, everyone today demonstrated that, when asked, they can be very very quick. Warm-up GM, IW, Sir Fazio, HB, Overhead Claps, SSH Thangs First, mosey to the bottom of the sets of hills to the North (or West) of St Mary’s. Been here before. These hills are short and sweet.
