The Freedom Trail July 4th Convergence

@Qwerty, @Red Ryder and YHC met last week to plan the 2019 July 4th Convergence hoping to create something special. Our goal was to keep the PAX together in order to preserve fellowship and maybe a few exercises in-between. The disclaimer was disclaimed, the F3 Mission was delivered and Whitney Houston’s Star Spangled Banner put the PAX in a USA state of mind that included a Fly Over courtesy of Delta. [Read More]

Greenways, Ovals, and Snakes

Lion’s Den! Only my second post there, but man is that a nice site. Just wish it wasn’t a 40 minute round trip drive to get there. Ne’ertheless, here we go! FNG check (one!), even numbers check (yes!), <16 people check (also yes!), clunky disclaimer, LET’S ROLL. Mosey around the lot for Carioca both ways, backwards and forwards run, then continue the mosey to the north lot for GM / IW / SSH / CP / SM / PJ / MC. [Read More]

The concrete doesn't actually obliterate your hands

Many of you know that I sometimes go lift after F3. I learned several months ago that doing an EC Run, posting for a beatdown, and then going to the gym usually just leads to a half-assed lifting session, and I stopped doing that. Well, last night I wasn’t thinking clearly and set my alarm for the EC Run knowing I was going to lift after. So,….I really just cheated myself out for 30 minutes of sleep this morning, and I was having some fantastic dreams fishing in Alaska. [Read More]

Like the first day of school

Like the first day of school, YHC set out clothes, made sure the flag was ready and playlist was primed for the soft launch of HOT FOR THE TEACHER. During my first Q (Hell’s Bells) in October 2018, I created a kick-ass playlist that included everybody’s favorite “Hot for The Teacher” by Van Halen. At one point @discoduck leaned over and said “ This would make a great name for an AO” When we scouted the new Thursday site and first decided on a starting point in the Publix parking lot, HFT was not one of the choices. A Case of the Mondays

The sun comes up early these days. Early enough for an old guy like YHC to be able to make out most of the faces gathered around the shovel flag at about 0543. As the garmin strikes 0545, there are 21 PAX who pledge their allegiance, then follow the Q as we all mosey into the bowels of Apex Community Park. Warm Up SSHs, Good Mornings, Steve Earles, Moroccan Night Clubs, Overhead Claps, Plank Jacks, Calf Stretches, and 10 burpees OYO. [Read More]

Fellowship at Wolverine

The first weekday morning after i turned 49 was glorious. 18 strong filled what is left of the parking lot at the darkest of all AOs (unless it is within a week of the summer solstice). We congratulated Build a Bear and jigglypuff on their EC (after which Puff headed home), then we had a moment of silence for our brother War Child. After this sobering start to the day, we were off.
