So About That Hip Flexor...

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, November 29, 2019. After the triumphant T-day convergence, which sported a CARPEX record of 3,964 PAX including 561 FNGs, most of us practiced a LOT of gluttony. YHC consumed enough calories on turkey day to power a 747 jet on a cross-continental voyage. 11 HIDAs, including one FNG, were here to out-king their queens. Whether they knew it or not. Speaking of kings, Prom King is late so 10 burpees is our reward. [Read More]

Cinder Block Pyramids

I wanted to make this one brutal so I scoured through F3 Greenwood’s IronPAX challenges and merged a few of them together to come up with this. While I was at my work/geek convention (i.e. KubeCon) in San Diego I ran through this workout at the hotel with a 30lb kettlebell (the heaviest one they had unfortunately). In short, it sucked, but do-able. So I grabbed all of the cinder blocks and two spare KB from Hell’s Bells the night before. [Read More]

5 Years............and Counting

Hit the PAX with a challenge to post at Kryptonite on the Slacks. And a special request to the 8 other Pax that attended my first workout, 7 of the 8 were there (Burt - Q, Wonderbread, Denali, Hotspot, Michelob, Franklin, and MaBell). Surcharge was unable to make it, although I am not sure he received my request. Anyways, 27 total showed up to see if I learned anything in the past 5 years…………. [Read More]

Race Ya!

23 of the finest pax in all of Carpex-sub-region-Apex-Wednesday-bootcamper-regulars gathered in the gloom this morning for a non preblasted beatdown by YHC. Pax pulled in with minutes to spare, EC runners caught their breath, and has 0530 hit we dished out the disclaimer, raised our hands to our hearts for our country, set our Stravas, and took off towards the school. A long lap around the Bus Carpool loop and to the church courtyard for warmup: [Read More]

RED

We had a couple of visitors from out of town this morning, Monk from F3 The Capital (and before that Gastonia), and Red Baron from wherever Living Legends come from. Warm-Up Disclaimer and Pledge, mosey around the parking lot and grab some curb for three rounds of quick feet and curb irkens, then to the top of the deck and circle up for cherry pickers, arm twirlies, seal claps, hillbillies and a round of Good Mornings expertly led by Crimson. The Great Pain Stick Parking Deck Caper

YHC has had a commitment EVERY Tuesday night for the past 8 weeks. This prevented YHC from posting at Rush Hour…until this week. And the Q slot was open. So the stars aligned and I made my first trip in MONTHS to the finest AO in DTC on a Tuesday evening. A couple of us were there early, including Kevin. You see, Orphan sent us a message earlier in the day that his buddy Kevin, an FNG, would be visiting Rush Hour. [Read More]

Go outside and warm-up...

… at least that’s the joke around our house lately. Our downstairs furnace hasn’t worked in almost two weeks, as some of you have heard me ‘vent’. The first replacement part didn’t arrive for a week, then they installed it wrong and it failed within a few hours. Now we’re waiting for a replacement for the part and the installer! I’m trying to be nice, but the M lost patience long ago. [Read More]

A Squatty Party

15 HIM of which 18 were Steve’s ( SixteenSteves + Ryder + Cataracts) were ready to move and warm-up. YHC has been dealing with some shoulder problems and needed to keep this Q below the pits. Having primed the Pax with the upcoming “Leg Day” pre-blast I needed to deliver. Ryder called it a traveling warm-up, I called it “keep yo ass moving” as we lapped a quick run out of the parking lot and around just to get everyone moving. [Read More]

OK, Boomer

Google it, if you have to. I did. Hint: it has nothing to do with Oklahoma. 19 PAX + 1 for EC only showed up at a damp and gloomy FMJ as Carpex Respect Week rolls on. Seems like an appropriate week for one of our Respects to ask, “Hey! Can you just tell me what ‘OK Boomer’ means so I don’t have to look it up?” In the meantime, we did do some exercises: [Read More]

Just Breathe

So what did Faith Hill have to do with the workout? Nothing. But she sure is easy on the eyes. Oh and she put out an album exactly 20 years ago titled Breathe which was a reoccuring theme in the workout. 10 pax were at the flag ready to roll at 0530 so we got after it. A quick disclaimer, Pledge of Allegiance and off we went. Warm-up: Mosey out to Town Side then head toward Apex BBQ Rd, left on that road until at the back entrance of St. [Read More]
