Inspired By Burt (that is not a typo)

Michelob and YHC for a little EC Posting at Bradford’s Ordinary yesterday I was “inspired” by Burt’s shared cluster Q. To the untrained eye, it may have seemed like he was unprepared but he was, in fact, helping to shape and invigorate. What, I’m not actually sure, but there was definitely shaping and invigorating going on. And it seemed to work. So I borrowed his lackadaisical Qing style and implemented it at DAC. [Read More]

Edumacation to safely ascend/descend the Escalator and Ladder.

Date: 3/12/20 PAX: Animal, Bobby Boucher, Cataracts, Henny Penny, Ox Tail, Que Queg, Ramsay, Shipper, Slappy, Track Star, Two Factor, Wahoo, WWW It was meant to be. Triple Lindy had the original Q but due to his M’s work schedule change, he had to pull himself out. I saw the opening and jumped right in or Slappy or Cataracts would had to cover. I was honored to take the slot. This helps my quest to Q a minimum of 52 times for 2020. [Read More]

A Year Goes By Fast

A little over a year ago, YHC was talking with our awesome 1st F Qs about a new Wednesday workout. Numbers were problematic across all the AOs, and I had some ideas about where might be a good place to launch. We talked about a number of options, and through those conversations I learned another PAX was interested in the same thing. To this point, I didn’t know Sour Mash very well - 99% sure that this was my fault. [Read More]

Q on the fly!

Let me just take a moment and say this was a historic morning in the POGL. This one might be a bit long back blast but it was definitely one for the F3Carpex history books! A little background: Fresher course, just in case: POGL: Peak of Good Living Apex (/ˈeɪ.pɛks/) is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. Apex encompasses the community of Friendship at its southern border. In 1994, the downtown area was designated a historic district, and the Apex train depot, built in 1867, is designated a Wake County landmark. [Read More]

Cinder Block Pyramids

I wanted to make this one brutal so I scoured through F3 Greenwood’s IronPAX challenges and merged a few of them together to come up with this. While I was at my work/geek convention (i.e. KubeCon) in San Diego I ran through this workout at the hotel with a 30lb kettlebell (the heaviest one they had unfortunately). In short, it sucked, but do-able. So I grabbed all of the cinder blocks and two spare KB from Hell’s Bells the night before. [Read More]

Diamonds Are Forever … or Until You Need a Bathroom Break By the time YHC arrived on the scene we already had a police cruiser observing from a distance in the parking lot. The Commish told him something that apparently made him believe we posed no threat, so he eventually left without hitting the siren. All license plates are no doubt now on a watchlist, so score one for the PAX who parked offsite and ran it in. Barrel of Pickles

It feels like it’s been quite a while since my VQ, but I’m glad Q #2 was finally here! Last week I made sure to do recon during Hamm’s VQ and was please to see there were 4 pickles, making 5 different running lanes. I now had a plan… 1 FNG, so struggled through the disclaimer and part of the mission and whatnot followed by the declaration of allegiance to Old Glory. [Read More]
