Feels Like NASCAR

It was indeed a great day to get up and workout in the early morning gloom! It was also YHC’s first time of leading a high tempo beatdown. So I had been looking forward to that, as well as receiving an FMJ camo koozie at the end, I’m not gonna lie! So after everyone arrived and stretched out: the runners came in, YHC gave the disclaimer, led the Pledge, and we were off! [Read More]

Back in the Saddle

I’ve been trying to decide when i was ready to Q again and noticed a BO opening so figure that would be a great opp to get back in the saddle again. Solid group of 19 gathered in the parking lot ready to do some work. Burt recites the abbreviated version of the F3 mission and we are off. Mozy to random parking lot near the train tracks for a brief warm with no merkins, but with a on point Nature Boy Good Morning call. [Read More]

Runner's Arms Fixed Here

Sick and tired of being made fun of by Flip Flop, a few runners took a break from The Maynard to work on some other muscles. However, runner or not, today’s workout pushed everyone a little out of their comfort zone **Warm-Up **Circle up for some Good Mornings, Windmills, Steve Earles, Arm Circles **Thang One **With everyone standing in a circle I called out exercises to be completed for 1 minute OYO (w/30-second recovery), except for those standing in front of the fun toys I brought. Heaven is a Halfpipe

This backblast is a little late coming as it is from my birthday Q on 8/20, but as you get older you tend to forget things. Any way, as most are aware it’s BRR season and another HIM suggested those of us running the BRR should be sure to take all the open Q slots for BRR inspired workouts. Well, one of my typical training routes goes right through HFT and from the light at Olive Chapel and Kelly Road to Kelly at Beaver Creek Commons appeared to be the perfect “halfpipe” if you will. After the Hurricane

A beautiful night in down town Cary. The feels like temperature was below 90 and the humidity was at 61%. A eager PAX arrived, well they weren’t that eager. Chatter at the beginning was to run to Bond and call it a workout. It was too nice to not enjoy a bootcamp with coupons. 2 minute warning, no FNG, Mission, and Pledge. Warm Up: Mosey around campus. Switch Back Training

Thanks to Wrench for the attempt at a video of who was in attendance. Amazingly, I was able to pretty quickly remember 13 of 14 PAX. The one that took me the longest to remember was…YHC. The Carpex Challenge quest continues this morning at Bradford’s Ordinary. I had posted here an entire 2 times previously, but I knew there was a giant parking deck, and what else do you really need than a water fountain, which we have that too! [Read More]

If I Can, You Can

YHC has made posting at Measure Twice a priority. I mean one 30 minute stretch session should fix me for the whole week, right? Every time I’ve been I’ve been impressed by the Q. And everytime I’ve been I’ve thought I’m MONTHS away from EVER Qing this site! Fast forward (or rewind I guess) to Sunday night. The empty Q slot was just calling my name and saying, “Do it. Doesn’t matter if you don’t think you can. [Read More]

Back-in-Bounty Hunters

Prologue: A couple months ago, the Bounty Hunters shirt went up for sale. I’m both a Star Wars and F3 nerd, so I was all in, but I felt like I shouldn’t wear the shirt of a Carpex AO where I’d never posted. Since I’m solo Site-Qing at Back in Black right now, I needed a flag at Koka Booth, so that I could head to Bounty Hunters and check that box. [Read More]

Measuring 2x with Music

Music has always been a core part of my life. Piano lessons starting at age 6, leading high school youth group on guitar, dancing like a fiend at Phish shows, and most recently mountain biking at Lake Crabtree classic rock (thanks to Road Rash for the tip). I knew once it was time to VQ I’d want to find some way to incorporate it into the gloom, at the very least to honor my namesake. [Read More]
