Turtles all the way down

To borrow from the G-File, welcome dear readers (including those who thought this BB was going to be about Sturgill Simpson or, much less likely, John Green’s book): Ever come across a book (or in this case a series of books) that you just wish you had come across earlier in life? That’s basically how I feel about Terry Pratchett and his Discworld Series. I first came across Pratchett’s series a few years ago on a trip to London where the bookshop in the airport is a frequent stop. [Read More]

Backblast two-fer

Taking a page out of the high-tempo-ness of the two AOs to which this two-fer belongs and high-tempoing this mofo in one uninterrupted writing block. Clock. Starts. Now. 7:01PM start. Measured Thrice Location: TGM PAX: YHC, Parker, Snots, 1-4, Pivot, Skidmore (out of towner… sort of), Biner, Hi-Liter + Ruckers: Trike, Repeato + Pooch, Skipper Warm-up: Bring yo gloves. Field of Drunk rocks

YHC’s Q tour continues. Ain’t gonna lie… I have a love/hate relationship with the Q sheet. Love the fact that I can snag some quality spots last minute. Wouldn’t mind it being a little more difficult. Get out there and grab a spot. You will love it. The PAX may love it. I may not love it but that’s ok. Warm up During the EC (see NMS for more on that) I noticed that the rock pile near the flag is a bit low on small-sized rocks. [Read More]

Are we still writing backblasts?

Hello, and welcome to Fastest Friday AO in Carpex! The site that never shut down. Where mileage records are set and asterisks are badges of honor. YHC put forth his best marketing campaign he could to reQruit our native #beardedmillennial but with the Covid15 around his waste, Fortnight at his fingers, and a warm and dry fartsack YHC received word this morning at 0830 he “didn’t hear the alarms.” And he’s “sorry man”. BLIMPS with a Twist

As we gathered this lovely humid morning in the FOD parking lot, a fresh face sauntered up and introduced himself as an FNG. Apparently @dirtybomb EH’d him, but declined to post himself. A little small talk, a slightly abridged disclaimer and we were off for a mosey, paint the lines and a quick warm up with side straddle hops, merkins, good mornings, and sir fazio’s. At the bottom of the hill I explained our blimp routine… [Read More]

Measured to Perfection

NOTE TO COMS: Measure Twice is an AO. It deserves a category! Measure Twice had the unfortunate bad luck of officially launching just prior to pandemic-related lock-downs so it had not yet built up a healthy following before everything went by-by. But it’s a fantastic location with a clever concept. Since this is (I think) the first Measure Twice BB, here’s the concept: Measure Twice is a 60 minute work out. [Read More]

Best Estimate in the Circus

March 5, 2020, it’s a perfect day for a morning workout, and for YHC’s VQ at FC. Thanks to Pivot for signing me up, it’d probably take me much longer to make up my mind even though it had been mentioned to me a couple times recently. Slight jitter to start as YHC did not have a lot of time to go through the Q plan that was made up the day before, but knew the structure’s there. [Read More]

Q Week Day 4: FC

Day 4 of 5 of my Q week was set to be the most challenging (to not fartsack that is), the PAX seemed to be in good spirits considering everything going on in the world. YHC enjoyed seeing a good crowd out there this morning! Warm-up: To start getting our hearts bumping, we took a run around the peanut, with alternating movements including: Karaoke Ass-Kickers High Knees High Skip WU also circled up for GMs, Windmills and Burpees (foreshadowing the future) [Read More]

By The Power of Grayskull

All right, maybe not. But the GPS made an interesting pattern and there were a bunch of He-Men out at Gran Torino this AM: 10 Boot Camp, 6 Runners, and 4 Ruckers. Disclaimer disclaimed to FNG Steve Beaker’s beginnings (The Warm-Up) Mosey around the school, stopping along the way at some spots along the way for: Accelerating Side-Straddle Hops Sir-Fazio Arm Circles Wille-Mays Hayes Daisy Pickers Mountain Climbers Beaker’s Beatdown (The Thang) [Read More]

F.O.D. (Finally On-site, Da*#it)

Despite Bartman setting the bar pretty low for Site Qs (here), I still think I manage to limbo it more than hurdle it. Having missed the past two weeks at FOD due to illness and fartsackiness, I was on the hook for the Q today. Since, as the site Q, I was my own back-up, I kinda sorta had to show. I think there is a lesson here… Beaker’s Beginnings (The Warm-Up) [Read More]
