A "Respectable" Measure Twice

Only a “respect” for a week and here I am as the Q for a second time in the same month! Could this be the start of something crazy I start doing in my “old age’? We shall see. Thang 1: The Run South on Louis Stephens Drive West onto Morrisville Pkwy North onto Davis Drive West onto Morrisville Carpenter Road South on Louis Stevens Drive Thang 2: Brogra consisting of but not limited to the following: [Read More]

Grundle-Dusting Comes to Cary (the Baby It's Cold Outside edition)

YHC made his virgin voyage to Whoville this morning. First time ever, and I have the Q. What could go wrong? First of all, I apparently park at the other end of the parking lot from where the flag is typically planted. Not that anyone would know, since the pin drop is in the middle of the school building. Once we figure this out, and the clock strikes 0530, there is a disclaimer given and the pledge is pledged. [Read More]

That's No Moon!

9 Pax made it out to the gloom to get their beatdown on for day! YHC got there a little early to set up for the ME, which I knew was gonna suck ever since I found it on the Exicon. (In a good way of course). When the time came the disclaimer was given, the Pledge was recited, and we were on our way to the other parking lot around the corner for the warm up! [Read More]

VQ 5 Years Later

47 degrees in September…yes please! 21 pax left their warm cozy beds to suffer a bit in the gloom (even 1 high schooler! William “Braveheart” Wallace Marriott IV). So here is how this Beatdown was birthed…YHC VQ’d at FOD back in May of 2015. This past month I’ve been back to FOD a couple times and was excited to see the path around the baseball fields was FINALLY finished! We used to run the mess out of that loop and it got me thinking back to the early days of FOD…which got me to look up my VQ backblast…which got me to copy it for this morning and not have to think of something new! To Taper or Not?

What is this thing that is called the BRR taper? 13 men showed up at Thomas Brooks park, the site of Field of Dreams, to find out. Four were doing some EC pull-ups before the bell rang at 0545. No site Qs, no flag, let’s go. Warm Up Mosey lap, circle up. SSHs, Sir Fazio arm circles, Steve Earles, Runners stretch, Calf stretch, Pigeon stretch, and CF Merkins The Thang Pick a non-traveling rock. [Read More]

Horton hears a...Who understood what Tang just said?

Day 2 of Tang’s Return Tour resulted in sweat angels, confusion, and Bolton nearly dying. We had 10 PAX post, mostly all between 0528-0530, so I was pretty nervous for awhile about working out alone…I had a month of that in Cali and wasn’t about to repeat again. Nevertheless, the PAX rolled in, and after a few intros we set off. Bolton wasn’t sure at first about rucking or bootcamping, but he was persuaded to be our 9th camper…a decision he voiced many times that he regretted throughout the workout. [Read More]

Pre-measure... then measure twice

Looking up stretches and yoga exercises last night, I realized that more “experts” (read: Runners World and similar publications) suggest that one should stretch BEFORE a run as much as AFTER. Yes with Measure Twice (and pretty much all other F3 workouts) what little stretching happens, happens after. Sure, there may be some SSH and GM’s for a warm up, but with most of the Hi-Tempo and Running workouts, that’s a rarity. [Read More]

Impromptu Q

YHC was a bit groggy rolling into Claymore, looking forward to a thorough Riptide beatdown to wake up. Site Q fail right off the bat, as Frisco had to abruptly leave town to deal with family health issues and YHC had not acquired the shovel flag. Nonetheless, the PAX all stood in a loose circle looking expectantly for Riptide’s signature truck to come rolling in. Quick look at the Steve shows that it’s 5:45 and everyone is expectantly looking at YHC. [Read More]
