Filling 45 minutes 3 minutes at a time

The major upside to this slow re-open is the opportunity to (relatively) last minute decide to Q previously never visited locations. Especially those that (usually) have Q-spots filled up months and months in advance. Point Break, an AO I know only as a result of the Waverly Wednesdays from a by-gone era, is one such location. I take it back…. there was that fantastic Daddy-Daughter Date-Night at Waverly last year. My daughter got dressed up in her tux, we had a fancy Chick-fil-A dinner, enjoyed a chair message and even ran into a few PAX. [Read More]

Ma grunted a merkin

The negative impact of COVID-19 on travel is obvious. Fact is, in many respects, travel has overnight become something most people are avoiding like crazy. Hopefully not for ever but there’s definitely been a fair bit of upheaval: cancelled business trips, less inviting person trips, family “getting by” with video calls and summer plans going arse over tit. All in all, it sucks. Case in point, RDU saw more passengers on an average day in February than they did in all of April 2020. [Read More]

Gorillas in the Gloom

Sitting on the can this morning about the time the Back in Black boys were stepping out of their cars into the gloom, I am not ashamed to admit that a certain thought crossed my mind: ”Why in the hell did I pick today to Q?” After two months out of the gloom, it’s a bit easy to get soft. Not just muscle soft or calluses soft but mentally soft. Examples? [Read More]

Talking Myst in the Mist

Picking up and hanging with Capt Kirk is always a treat. He is a mumblechatter master. Put him in a workout together with Horatio and you have F3 Gold. Such it was this afternoon at RushHour. A fine mist (more on this in a bit) hung in the air as I called up the dear Captain to make sure he was indeed up for a DTC beatdown. Come 1740, as I pull up to his house, Kirk is on the phone with a friend (that infamous one-hit-wonder Spock, it turns out) lamenting the fact that it’s raining. [Read More]

Measured to Perfection

NOTE TO COMS: Measure Twice is an AO. It deserves a category! Measure Twice had the unfortunate bad luck of officially launching just prior to pandemic-related lock-downs so it had not yet built up a healthy following before everything went by-by. But it’s a fantastic location with a clever concept. Since this is (I think) the first Measure Twice BB, here’s the concept: Measure Twice is a 60 minute work out. [Read More]

Return of the Deck II

YHC read Kermit’s Rush Hour BB yesterday and thought it was time to bring out a slightly different version of the deck. Funny story first though. Yesterday YHC posted to the Cary Cartel channel an optional to EC before BH to work the Hillz challenge. Plan was to meet at the bottom of the Shepherd’s Vineyard segment and run in then do another repeat on the way back. No one smashed the HC button so I wasn’t expecting anyone so I was very pleasantly surprised to see two cars in the parking lot at 0505 when I pulled up. Dr. Dre makes ya feel alright

#COVID19 is now officially in full hysteria mode. I mean that in the “uncontrolled” and not “exaggerated” sense of the term since who knows if the hysteria is warranted or not. But considering that the NBA just suspended their season… and travel from Europe into the US is blocked… and America’s Dad (or whatever we are calling Tom Hanks nowadays) is not in quarantine in Australia as a result of COVID… well, the shite has gotten real. Inclined to sprint

Warm up Twas a chilly morning and YHC knew there would be some tight hams around so elected to pledge then go for a longer warm up jog than the customary pickle and a half: Out of the car park, left on Norwell, left on NW Cary, left into the trees (lights on), immediately left up the steps and then along the little used, slightly dangerous, trail back to the bottom of the car park.
