Shutty's Ladder

YHC had an amazing beatdown planned for the tennis courts of Claymore this morning, but overnight rains left the courts way too slippery. So instead the boys of Carpex got this. Warm-Up Mosey around the pickle to the rock pile and circle up for Imperial Walkers, Sir Fazios, cherry pickers, and the opposite of copperhead merkins (name TBD). The Thang Grab a travelling rock from the rock pile for travelling rock sevens. [Read More]

Quest for 8 Q Challenge ... Day 2 #2 Claymore

Date: 12/15/2020 PAX: Cataracts, Chewie, EarharT, Frisco, Happy Gilmore, Intimidator, Kwik Stop, Mama’s Boy, Pickles, Red Ryder, Reentry, Roasters, Suck Up, WWW Day 2.1 of the quest. I noticed that as I’m preparing the workout, it is not that easy. I always try to make multiple workouts different so it keeps the PAX guessing. But I do have my favorite routines and the thang I have planned can be modified in so many different ways that it is not boring. [Read More]

Fashion faux pas

Small but stunningly strong set of swain swung into Scots Mill around six. A pair of NC State hoodies got out of their cars. Matching. Embarrassing. It’s 5:46, time to get going. SSH start. Frisco rolls up. Casually. SSHs continue. Frisco leisurely unfurls the flag. SSHs continue. The shovel is planted. SSHs continue. Shovel flag is assembled, with care. SSHs continue. Frisco joins the SSHs. SSH halt. Thang: Get a rock from the heavy rock pile. [Read More]

Balls and Diamonds

YHC got late notice on Monday from Frisco that he was isolating due to possible COVID exposure, so he would not be able to Q. YHC’s Qs had been in a rut of late: Dora, Sevens, blah… wanted to do something different this time and given the short notice, would be doing so more or less on the fly. Seven PAX at the start in a damp, but well-lit Claymore parking lot. [Read More]

Just a bunch of Divas at Claymore

32 days between posts built a lot of pressure up to make my VQ legit. I’m biting off Qs every day for the next week and wanted to start it off the right way. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to get back to work with the boys (insert TOP GUN volleyball scene gif “here”). All I could hope for today were motivated HIMs, great weather, no car trouble, and some exhausted looks at the end of the workout…of those wishes, at least I got some beautiful foggy/muggy weather to work with! Heaven is a Halfpipe

This backblast is a little late coming as it is from my birthday Q on 8/20, but as you get older you tend to forget things. Any way, as most are aware it’s BRR season and another HIM suggested those of us running the BRR should be sure to take all the open Q slots for BRR inspired workouts. Well, one of my typical training routes goes right through HFT and from the light at Olive Chapel and Kelly Road to Kelly at Beaver Creek Commons appeared to be the perfect “halfpipe” if you will. Fence Escalators

For the second time in the past two months, YHC needed to carry out my site Q duties at Claymore by stepping in for a last-minute impromptu Q. Frisco had given me a heads up that the VQ he had lined up (no, not Frisco) for today might not show, so there were already some ideas percolating. It’s 0545, and after pledging allegiance at the shovel flag, we’re off for a slow mosey around the circle. [Read More]

Bucket Handle Meniscus Tear? We report, you decide.

Wait there’s an AO in my neighborhood? Yes, yes there is. It’s a wonderful low impact AO designed to make men stronger with their own body weight and rocks. It’s also run by two high impact men in @Pickles and @Frisco. Who knows what @Frisco’s actual nom de guerre is today, as he and the site flag were MIA. Although he did give a head’s up that he might be absent due to working 0000-0400. [Read More]

WOD: CLAYMORE

Date: 7/21/20 PAX: Chipper, EarharT, Frisco, Kwik Stop, Pickles, Press On, Tang, WWW As I was trying to decide what workout routine to create, I went to my favorite place to research … the good old exicon. I wanted exercises to push the limits for a solid WOD. As 0545 hit, I was anxious to get rolling. F3 mission, core principles, and credo recited and our Pledge of Allegiance to Old Glory it was time to get down to business. [Read More]

FUN!!!

Since this is my one year anniversary backblast I’ll start with some of the mushy stuff. It will probably be longer then the Muggo but shorter then a Callahan Christmas speech. So over a year ago my M was at a continuing education class and some guys she knew from Raleigh were talking about F3. One of them who had only gone to one workout and quit was complaining about how early it started and how many push-ups they had to do. [Read More]
