RESPECT Ladders

Pulling into the Senior Center (an apt place to start for RESPECT Week, as so many pointed out - hardy har har), I could tell there was 24K magic in the air. Someone brought a Wal-Mark special fishing rod, an obvious nod to YHC’s fishing prowess. Some PAX were already sweating from Insomnia; some were sweating the impending beatdown they were about to receive; some took the easy way out and Vespered their way out of a beatdown; some rucked because, you know, running sucks and walking’s not enough. Respect week kick-off

9 PAX for Kryptonite and 1 for Rolling Stone showed up at Koka Booth to kick off Carpex Respect Week. We were greeted by Hermes, playing an old man character by sitting in his patio chair, reading today’s newspaper, and wearing his old-man hat. If you haven’t seen the hat, just look for any of his selfies on GroupMe. Ah, Mondays. You try to start the week off right, but your gastrointestinal system may still be dealing with what you did to it over the weekend. [Read More]

Four-Alarm Fire

BB 20 PAX stamped their passports and journeyed ALL THE WAY to DP on a misty, unseasonably-warm morning. YHC kept hearing something about it being a “first Friday,” and therefore cause for an “easier” workout! Yeah, right. Let the beatdown begin. The Warmup - Pledge of Allegiance at the Shovel Flag - Jog to the end of the parking lot, painting the lines along the way, run past the “field closed” sign onto the field, circle up. [Read More]

Go IRISH!

When: 10/31/2017 QIC: Pet Sounds The PAX: Kermit, Disco Duck , and Pet Sounds (YHC) With the sauce hitting the head a few days earlier while watching the Irish put a hurting on the Wolfpack, YHC raised his hand to grab any Q available… Little did one realize it was Halloween evening… Kids took over Cary as we passed dozens of youngsters dressed for Halloween candy success. Go Time 1745 [Read More]

put that mumble chatter aside and commit to something

November 1st, 2017 One goal, and only one goal- stop the mumble chatter. Is that really a good goal, or is that a selfish request? Either way, I am the Q and took on the challenge. Luckily we had a FNG (welcome Tubeless and thanks Wrangler for bringing him out) which would inspire Burt to get warmed up. What really got Burt going was seeing the duct tape holding my shoes together. Bayside High School Is Awesome

I love @jeremyfoland sending out the weekly “Who’s Qing” tweet because about every 4th week or so I look and say, “Oh, I’m Qing this week.” And speaking of Hotspot, we’ll get back to him a little later. Good crowd of 21 PAX today, including 2 FNGs from out of state. The FNGs came with Grease so I knew they’d be athletes and were probably use to being in action. Gave the disclaimer and we were on our way. How quickly..

How quickly things change. Last week, Gloom temperatures were in the 70’s and humid. This morning the PAX broke out the long sleeves and sweatshirts (some of them, anyway) for temps starting with a “4.” And that’s Freedom degrees, not in some commie temperature. The Tortoises crew had made the journey north in order to partake of the 2nd/3rdF after the workout (more on this later), so go time was even more of a goat rodeo than normal at SnS. [Read More]
