St. Paddy's Day at Lion's Den

With better weather than yesterday or tomorrow (cloudy and 40s versus storms), an insider’s scoop preblast from the site Q, and the opportunity to start off St. Paddy’s Day at St. Mary Magdalene’s, the chances were good for a decent turnout at Lion’s Den. As I tried to put together a decent routine to match, I thought to myself that things could get interesting, depending on how many people wear green. [Read More]

Last but not left behind

An amazing morning for a solid run and broga with Carpex’s finest HIM. Sure I was the “The 6” this day, but 1. I’m happy to have completed the entire course. 2. The pack came back to pick me up. I consider that a win. The Route: South on Louis Stephens Drive West onto Morrisville pkwy North onto Davis Drive West onto Morrisville Carpenter Road South on Louis Stephens Drive Yoga Thangs Standing position - Bent over at waist. Missed Shots and Merkins

Field of Dreams. The name just conjures up so many positive thoughts. YHC has spent a lot of time in this park, not related to F3. Many baseball and softball games have been played/coached/umpired out here. And it’s a great site to move around and travel. So we’re going to do a low mileage, core-heavy, sorta March Madness themed workout. Warm Up Pledge of Allegiance, and disclaimer. Do a mosey lap around the parking lots. [Read More]

Told Y'all There'd Be Hills

Preamble Thought I never actually saw it there, I swear Build-A-Bear had put me on the Q sheet for 3/8. But there I was scheduled for 3/1. One of y’all mophos is playing some shenanigans. But you got to get up mighty early in the morning to fool Ma Bell! Play your little games. As YHC enjoyed a refreshing beverage and a cigar, I formulated a plan. A plan that involved hills. Bear with me...

33 degrees, gloom, and a light mist greeted the men at Gran Torino today, and didn’t that was the weather that got FNG Back Porch out to his first post…at a High Tempo bootcamp. After a short mosey, we got loose with a pretty standard workflow of side-straddle hops, calf-stretch merkins, mountain climbers, hillbillies, and treadwindmills. Down the stretch we formed up into two lines for a bear run: back runner overtakes the leader, and after each cycle of runners drop to 10 bear crawls in cadence, twice around the double field. Double Nickels for the Triple Nickel

I had originally signed up to Q Half Dome a few weeks ago but had to postpone so I was excited for my first Q here. Usually the hunting grounds of the beige bro tribe, they were nowhere to be found this rainy Thursday. But what we did have was a small and mighty group who came to work. And work they would do. Warm-Up We splished and a splashed our way down Castalia to the second calming circle for a couple of warm-up exercises to, of course, include merkins. [Read More]

Is it Gran Torino or Grand Torino?

So admittedly in my mind I always think Gran Torino is Grand Torino. I have no idea why? Perhaps just a by-product of a quality PA public school education? Anyway, the quest to complete as much of the Carpex challenge as possible continued this morning at GT. While YHC has been battling an injury as of late, the doc said I couldn’t do anymore damage and I started out the week with a few 5 mile days, so why not just grab that open GT Q spot for another box checked. The People's Champion

Davis Drive park has got to be one of the darkest places in an otherwise bright and somewhat beige world of Cary. Wait, is this where the Beige Bros got their name? Nevermind, I digress. It’s dark at Wolverine. Not too dark to know where to do pull-ups before the witching hour of 0530. It’s a busy Monday, with 17 PAX making the journey this morning. No FNGs, so a very abbreviated disclaimer was given. [Read More]
