Humid Hills

Little thick out there this morning. Little thick. Warm-Up Mosey around the lot next to the astroturf field and circle up for imperial walkers, daisy pickers, arm circles and burpees. The Thang Run up the hill to the next parking lot and back, stopping on the way down at each light pole for various exercises (merkins, LBCs, monkey humpers). Mosey to the shelter and partner up. P1 takes a lap around the lot, P2 does irkins, derkins and dips until relieved. [Read More]

Intro to Bruce Lee abs

It is now officially summer. How’s everyone’s beach body? When you think six-pack … are you thinking beer belly or abs? I’ve had this workout flagged for a while but wasn’t quite sure when or how to pull it out. Decided today was as good a day as any. Ma Bell and Franklin get an excused absence. The rest are in store for a beatdown in reverse. Warm-up Pickle laps [Read More]

Redemption. And socks

It’s easy to become complacent. And get in a rut. We all do that from time to time. Do you ever find yourself only posting at the same AOs, week after week? Well, then weeks turn into months. A few things were in play that led YHC to grab the Q for Gran Torino for May 28. First of all, I’d not Q’d this workout since last year. In fact I hadn’t been here in months. [Read More]

An(Un)limited MASH Run?

Dang it. It’s 4:45am and I’m awake. With 75 mins to kill before the the 6am start time of over at MASH I’m torn on what to do. Who am I kidding, no I’m not! I get up, get dressed and head over to the AO for a lil 1.5EC. Some time passes and 14 other HIM show up and join me for some fun stuff… starting with the disclaimer (1 FNG) and the Pledge [Read More]

Run FOD Run!

Apparently I’m being accused of becoming a runner as of late. With that thought, I did consider running into FOD this morning, but as it’s 4.5 each way + the workout I had planned I thought the better of it. Plus part of the route being a bit dicey (2 lane road and dark) I opted for the drive in. With my plan ready to go and with FOD being a “late start AO”, I arrived early for a solo 3/4 mile EC. The Winterfell Winkie

Waking up just a wee bit earlier this fine morning in order to make the trek to Winterfell as the Q. I was gretted first and foremost by a balmy 66˚. Then 7 of Carpex finest HIM joined me as we toured the AO. Once again the winkie as mentioned and audibles were called. As there were no FNG’s a brief disclaimer was given and the Pledge was recited. From there we mozied around side of campus to the bus parking lot area for warmups. [Read More]

Oh my God! They Killed PBX

Preamble OK, everybody just calm the F down. PBX is fine. But there was a period of time where we didn’t know that. “What happened?” you ask? Here’s the way it went down. All statements herein have been verified by multiple sources. The morning began like any other Friday at Gran Torino. Elite EC runners at 0500 followed by a rag-tag group of blue collar EC runners at 0505. PBX was one of those blue collar guys, along with Biner, Water Wings, and YHC. [Read More]

It adds up

EC Showed up a bit before 5:30 thinking that FOD was an early start time. Then remembered that FOD is old school. 5:45AM Start old school. Luckily Gump was in the parking lot just waiting to put on some more miles. The man finished his first marathon Sunday and he’s already looking for some EC?! Crazy. We got in a couple miles in ~15 minutes. I would have taken him back to the flag the long way but Gump talked me out of it. [Read More]

Wild Wild West Weather

Oh, how I love the weather fluctuations here in the land of Carpex. One week its Winter, a week later Spring and then Fall once again. This morning didn’t disappoint with a solid 48f to start the morning with the traveling “Circus” in tow. With no FNG’s, we started with the pledge. Mozy around large parking lot which included: Karaoke Butt kickers backwards run Back to the flag for warmups which consisted of [Read More]

What can I do with a football field??

Loved the fact that we have spring football! Wanted to leverage the amazing field and track at Flying Circus on this fine spring morning! 14 total gathered, here’s the quick & dirty regarding what did happen….5:45 hits & we say the mission & pledge, begin mosey to the stadium…. but, whoops! SUV coming in on two wheels & everyone knows exactly who that is …. alter the plan to loop through the parking lot to give said HIM a chance to get out & join up. [Read More]
