The Force is strong with this one...

Props to @Hello Kitty for the idea. I’m realizing that the older I get, the more I miss being a kid. The fantasy of Episode 4, way back in ‘77, is lost on Millennials. My office mate, all of 25 years old, has.never.seen.a.star.wars.movie. None of them. Of course She also texts with all her fingers versus my hunt and peck, so…. So, long ago, at an AO far, far away, Hello Kitty hatched a plan to have Star Wars themed Qs on Internation Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you…May the fourth be with us all). [Read More]

Meow Miles at Krypto

YHC logged onto Google street view to check the logistics for the Regency loop before Q’ing Krypto for the first time (don’t worry, I’ve posted here more than twice). A solid group of 11 Pax arrived in the Gloom, some “complaining” that the 42 degrees needed to be a touch warmer. Don’t fret, my pet, we’ll warm up. No disclaimer, and we’re off onto the Regency Loop which included: Warm ups in the first lot (quick feet sorta stuff… high tempo) And then we just ran and stopped along the way for stuff including merkins, squats, planks, dips, etc. [Read More]

What do Charles Bronson and Teddy Roosevelt have in common?

Nothing actually…until today. Theodore Roosevelt once spoke about the “man in the arena.” That man was Charles Bronson. 12 HIM showed up brighter than normal. Most drove @Hot Spot, @Michelob, @Old Maid and @Squatter ran in for a little EC. Warm Up We ended up taking the long way to the basketball court from the flag. Bat Wings (20x forward arm circles, reverse arm circles, seal claps, overhead claps. @Frankiln then forced us to hold our arms out for a long slow count from 0-9) Hillbilly, Mountain Climber, Plank Jack [Read More]

Shakin' not Stirred 4/25/18 Day 3 -- The '80's

The week of Smokey continues with the music of the ‘80’s. Joining us in the gloom were artists like Kenny Logins, Def Leppard, and Bon Jovi to name a few. 36 PAX were there for Vesper and SnS. 28 actually got to listen to the music. We began with a quick run around the parking lot to warm up in front of the senior center. Warm Up SSH Imperial Walkers [Read More]

MENSA Q

Here’s some maths knowledge for y’all - and why on Earth we would do anything as stupid (completely, utterly…?) as incorporate a Fibonacci sequence into a workout. For those of you who have been at this awhile, you may have experienced the Nautilus, a workout that starts at the center of something and spirals outward. A nautilus is a natural embodiment of the Golden Ratio, a mathematical expression that refers to the ratio of two addends to their sum and each other. Apparently a cadence count over 4 confuses people.

Some might say it was this PAX’s Kryptonite. (see what I did there?) Warm Up Windmill, Imperial Walker, Steve Earle, SSH Thang 1 Circled up in a nice patch of grass for Absolution. This is an 8 count cadence. Starting in plank position to a groiner, down to chill cut, plank jack, then back up. Trying to keep the PAX together on this one seemed to be a challenge. Not to mention no one was counting except me, so I’m not even sure how many we did. [Read More]

Some shoulder work

3 for the 2.5 mile EC run in and out - Old Maid, Hot Spot and Squatter Some others did some EC run stuff. Biner wore the breathtaker thing without smiling A total of 21 were there at the start and I think it was our FNG - Rahm that was a little late. Thang HiLighter: - Warmup including GM, HB, IW, SSH, and some penalty burpees and probably something else i am forgetting. [Read More]

Change is good

With our boy @callahan on the DL, we needed to ensure #ec-insomnia soldiered on. So, with a few quick keystrokes Tuesday night, YHC devised a new route I don’t think we’ve taken before; all the hills of the south side of Castalia. PAX of 9 for the run, 2 for the stationary effort, and off we go. Bye Large, Shawn D. Clair, and Denali…the rest of us settled in for a nice low-mid 8s pace, regrouping as needed (8:24, 8:16, 8:35, 8:24 mile splits). [Read More]

Dos Toros

Saturday is coming up fast and no one has claimed the Phoenix Q. YHC checks with the co-site Q to see if it’s really available, it is, and we decide to co-Q. Disco Duck takes the first half, Texas Ranger takes the second. Here we go. Warm-Up Mosey over to the community center parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, Sir Fazios, plank jacks and mountain climbers. The Thang [Read More]

Hidden Hills of Apex

Temps in the mid 40s. A perfect day for a strong group of 21 PAX to log a few miles and eat some hills for breakfast. Good to see Yoda make the trip from Raleigh again, and his guy Curry. This was YHC’s 2-week delayed birthday Q, after being sick with the flu on my actual birthday. Thanks to Burt for the beer lesson and for bringing me the gift of various of Anheuser Busch products (you know, because Michelob). [Read More]
