Quickies by St. Mary's

It’s late and it’s been a long week already but today’s Lion’s Den participants deserve a BB. Even if it’s a quick one. After all, everyone today demonstrated that, when asked, they can be very very quick. Warm-up GM, IW, Sir Fazio, HB, Overhead Claps, SSH Thangs First, mosey to the bottom of the sets of hills to the North (or West) of St Mary’s. Been here before. These hills are short and sweet. Where's Headroom???

Well, Headroom was on the Q sheet for this morning’s workout. 0530 came and went and there was no Headroom and since fellow site Q Chicken Little was at A Team with the rest of the boy band, YHC had to fill in. Headroom, you owe us one buddy! Warmup: Ok, so YHC is leading this thing with no plan whatsoever and someone suggests we mosey around the parking lot to see if Headroom does indeed show so that sounded like a great idea. Clockwork VQ at the Wild Wild West

My first post was at Lion’s Den on a Wednesday the week before Thanksgiving 2020, so I’ve been at F3 for a little over 3 months…and with 3 Q school sessions under my belt (shout-outs to Ma Bell, Disco Duck, and Red Ryder), I guess it was about time I tried my hand at Qing. Arrival and warmup When your Nantan pre-blasts a VQ, I guess 19 guys (and 1 canine) show up to set a new site record, even on a 33-degree Monday morning with chance of rain. [Read More]

A Smattering

4 years and a day! Quite a morning today, but first a look back at the last few February 14ths: 2020 // 2019 // 2018 // 2017 (note, way better BB compliance in Raleigh so far in 2021, but it seems like it’s only thanks to Pigpen and Cococrisp. tighten up, this is apparently a lost art) 14 PAX joined me at the flag, were graced with a retrospective about bu_m_ble tea and cheese foam, we checked for FNGs, said the pledge, and were off! Old School

A perfect 10 showed up on the coldest morning of the year. Warm-Up Mosey to the bottom lot for warm-up, including Sir Fazio arm circles, done Clockwork style, and a few burpees to calm the chatter. The Thang Mosey across the street to the little hill for sevens, burpees at the bottom, bear crawl up, jump squats at the top, mosey back down. Mosey back across the street to the picnic tables for Dora. [Read More]

That's Ten Enough

We had 18 PAX gather this morning at Tortoises to celebrate my 4 year F3 anniversary. I’m not sure if many of them were there to support me or if it was the fact that is was pouring rain yesterday and its going to be chilly with light snow tomorrow. 45 degrees with heavy mumblechatter. With 5:30 approaching, we started with the Pledge. Its a great way to start the day, and an even better way to get everyones attention. [Read More]

Baselines and backblasts

January 1. Symbolically speaking, a turning of a new leaf. And while most years are met with some degree of glee and dread, it’s pretty safe to say that the vast majority of us today are expecting much greater things from 2021 than 2020 gave us. So, with that in mind, today’s Dante’s Peak beatdown aimed to set new bars and improve on past glories. Warm-up: I have been working on getting a couple of guys from my son’s BSA troop out for months now and got a positive response last night from one of the dad’s about potentially joining us at DP this morning. 12 Days of Schlitz-mas part deux

YHC had wanted to Q his home site at some point in the next few weeks. After 15 miles at Oakwood 24 over the weekend I was only 4 miles short of 1000 miles for the year. I didn’t want to leave it to chance so I jumped on the Q sheet to make sure I got enough mileage to hit 1k. Well, it’s Christmas week so why not pull back out last year’s FMJ 12 Days of Christmas. Quest for 8 Q Challenge ... Day 3 #4 Tortoises Block Party

Date: 12/16/2020 (Happy Birthday) PAX: Disco Duck, Mr. Safety, Reentry, Roasters, WWW #4 of 8 Q’s on the docket. I got the to the AO early enough to get coffee brewing. It was cold but glorious for some body conditioning. 0530 and I’m ready to get this party started. YHC directs the PAX to the cinder block holding area to select the best one for them. Oh yeah, there is no difference. [Read More]

Three

YHC celebrates Three Years with F3 today. I had to Q, and Tortoises - where I used to be site Q - was the perfect place for it. My pre-blast promised Threes, Burpees, Merkins, and Music. We accomplished that. Left Cheek and I pulled up at the same time. I hadn’t met him before, but I could tell immediately that he is a HIM. We talked for a few minutes, then I ECP-ed some pullups to get rid of energy before the rest of the PAX showed up. [Read More]
