Tribal 11's

It was another great steamy morning in Cary at the place in south Wake we call Waverly Place. There’s all sorts of good restaurants over there to choose, Enrigo, Tazikis, Gonza, Shake Shack, Chick-fi-La, but we didn’t come to eat. We showed up to run, at least I did. We had two FNG’s even join us for the fun. On time start, mission, principles, disclaimer, pledge of allegiance, and let’s mosey! [Read More]

Blottin' the Sasquatch

17 PAX came out for the shadiest CSAUP route this side of New Hampshire. Of the ~12 miles covered, I think maybe a mile was full sun. You have got to love the greenways out here! A few weeks back, YHC saw @F3ENC post on twitter ‘bout their annual Sasquatch CSAUP going virtual. This is an event I know Yogi and Freebird have hit up in the past and raved about. [Read More]

Chopped Sooey

QIC: Chops! 14 Pax are right on time. Pledge, mosey, warm up at Dude Solutions. Thing 1: Indian Run for a mile around the lake. Thing 2: Three-man DORAs in the Chiesi parking lot. Partner one handles the DORA (100 merkin, 200 lowslowflutters, 300 squats), partner two runs across the parking lot to relieve partner three. Partner three is monkey humping. Thing 3: Pearls on a string back to the flag. [Read More]

BOMBS Over Waverly

As tax day began, we had a handful of ECers run the lake loop and we all met back at the flag for an ontime start. No FNGs, so we recited the pledge of allegiance and took off towards the Duke Health parking lot. Warmups: Good mornings, calf stretches, standard merkins and plank jacks. The Thang: B.O.M.B.S. were in order - we partnered up……Partner 1 started the exercises: B = 50 Burpees, O = 100 Overhead Claps, M = 150 Merkins, B = 200 Boxcutters, and S = 250 Squats. [Read More]

The S.S. Schlitz's One hour tour...

As YHC’s quest to complete more of the 2020 Carpex challenge continues, it was time to take a turn at the Phoenix Q. Bond Park is such a large AO, with so many options, I wanted to take the Pax on a tour of some of the typical stops along a Phoenix/SNS beatdown. YHC and the Triplest of Lindy’s for a nice, balmy 3 mile EC run. Here’s what went down: [Read More]

Pelotoned

QIC: Riptide. Big crowd for a muggy Riptide Q. Just as we’re about to launch, a car screams into the parking lot. It’s the triumphant return of Joe Smith. Mosey to Koka Booth parking lot for the warm up. Mosey to the rock pile, partner up, and grab a rock. Mosey to American Tower. Thing 1: Partner rock work. Partner 1 stays with the rock for 8-step rock-your-body. Partner 2 runs up the American Tower hill, does 2 burpees, runs down the hill, crawl-bears back up the hill, 2 starjumps, runs back. Happy Trails

About a year ago, Hermes led the PAX on a now-legendary Q down a narrow dirtbike trail that runs parallel to Highway 1. Hermes took the group all the way south to the Dairy Queen on Ten Ten. I got to thinking: what happens if you headed north on that trail instead? I saw the Q slot was open for Kryptonite, so I grabbed it. I ran the route twice over the weekend. [Read More]

The Very First Timeā€¦

It was my first Q and it was 5:10. I saw headlights start streaming into the parking lot and I started feeling a bit nervous. Just recently through Hermes Q School, I knew I was prepared. Fourteen PAX and one FNG Sunshine (son of Intervention) assembled by the flag. I mumbled the disclaimer, mission and then we recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Off we went with a short mosey across the street to the far end of the parking lot. [Read More]

Time May Change Kryptonite, but you can't change Kryptonite

Oofta and YHC were especially amped for Kryptonite today, because we were the lucky two who get to take the SiteQ responsibilities for the next…ummm, how long is it? Denali and Wonderbread conveniently left that part out. The EC was on, because, well, who doesn’t want to run with the Beige Bros before a 3 mile minimum high tempo workout. We rolled back in to the launch lot with maybe 12 seconds to spare, the PAX gathered, no FNGs, we said the pledge and off we went…. [Read More]

Filling 45 minutes 3 minutes at a time

The major upside to this slow re-open is the opportunity to (relatively) last minute decide to Q previously never visited locations. Especially those that (usually) have Q-spots filled up months and months in advance. Point Break, an AO I know only as a result of the Waverly Wednesdays from a by-gone era, is one such location. I take it back…. there was that fantastic Daddy-Daughter Date-Night at Waverly last year. My daughter got dressed up in her tux, we had a fancy Chick-fil-A dinner, enjoyed a chair message and even ran into a few PAX. [Read More]
