#mccantsweek Day 3 - Thanks, Khakis>crowd requests>ON YOUR LEFT

As we wrapped up COT at FMJ on Tuesday, I let the PAX know I’d be Q’ing SNS Wednesday, and invited to the beatdown. “What do you think McCants will come up with tomorrow, another MURPH?” said one. The PAX fell silent for a moment, pondering, praying, wondering whether they should just Vesper. Then an angelic, velvet smooth voice cut through the blissful peace: “I know exactly what McCants is going to do. Vanilla String of Pearls 7/13/18

YHC is nearing the mid-point of the July Tour De Carpex and saw a Q opening back where it all began at The Premier North Cary Friday AO. After staying up all night with the Boys at Flacco’s 2nd F, 24 got up with the Men to workout. Chhanticleer and Largemouth got in a 4.something EC run (note that both were not seen at Flacco’s the night before). I’m confident Term Paper would have been on time, but that HIM stepped up to pick up Capt. The Village(s of Apex)

Note: Orphan and Garfield were the co-Q’s for this workout, YHC is just posting the backblast for them. Goal M. Night Shyamalan directed a sleeper movie in 2004 called “The Village.” It was about a group of people who started a new society in the woods, intentionally shunning modern technology to be sheltered from current times. They were escaping the mistakes of their past to start anew, but there was no escaping the pure adrenaline caused from this little jaunt, tour, and beatdown around a neighborhood in Apex. AMRAP

Pre-Blast - 16 HIMs we’re reminded how valuable and necessary it is to be self-motivated. Every man’s contribution of enthusiasm and effort compound together to build the incredible culture we share. - Todays theme: Show up ready to give your best and inspire the next man to give his best as well. The Warmup - Pledge of Allegiance at the flag. - Run one, and only one, lap around the parking lot. [Read More]

Unbroken

Full Metal Jacket, already an AO with a military theme, YHC was feeling especially patriotic after having watched the movie “Unbroken” last week on 4th of July. Warm-up: YHC announced the theme to a healthy sized group of 14 PAX (or was it 15?) and off we went. Warm-up took us on a run for a loop around the ponds, ending up back at the playground set where we did a few good mornings and plank-jacks. [Read More]

Welcome Back

YHC had planned out a nice little kettle bell workout for the Hell’s Bell PAX, but that plan was contingent on having enough kettle bells to go around. Looking around at 0529 it was clear we had just the right number of PAX, but less than the right number of kettle bells, so the original plan was scrapped and a new plan was hatched on the fly. Let’s get after it! [Read More]

"PLAY BALL!" A Birthday Q Story

A couple of months ago YHC thought it was only right to honor the Carpex tradition of Qing on your Birthday, so I signed up for a Friday, July 6th Q at the infamous Slippery When Wet. Why is it infamous? Well, legend has it that back in the 80s Bon Jovi’s tour bus broke down as it was passing through Cary in the early morning hours. Back then, Cary was just a zygote that would later develop into the boisterous town we now know. Kicking off USA Birthday Week

As we come up on 241 years as a country, YHC felt it was appropriate to celebrate with a little victory lap. It’s a beautiful lake with wonderful scenery and a typically well maintained Apex trail running around it. The backblasts suggested A-Team hadn’t run a lap in quite some time (YHC found reference to one such effort in ‘16 led by a “McCants”) so here we go. Warm-up: this was sort of done on the run [Read More]

Stairway to Vanilla

YHC had a plan that involved climbing the stairs in the woods when I Q’ed here at Danger Zone a few weeks ago. Alas the rains the night before left things too slick, and that plan had to go into my back pocket for another day. Well this week it has been dry as a bone, so today is that day. Warm-Up Quick trip around the pickle and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, Sir Fazios, plank jacks and one standard merkin. [Read More]
