It looked good on paper

It seemed simple enough. Run around Bond Lake and stop and do exercises every tenth of a mile. I’m just not sure where my calculations went wrong. Was the warm up too long? Was the PAX too slow? Was the rampant Mumble Chatter too mumbley? Perhaps it was the shared fear of tripping over a tree root or coming in contact with poison ivy. Maybe it was having Disco Duck’s recent copperhead snake warning ringing in our ears, trying to figure out who was going to carry Liverpool out of the woods if he gets bit again or was Grease Monkey’s silent protesting slowly spreading through the PAX. Who is the Q today?

YHC had the alarm set for 5:00 sharp this morning…but hit the snooze once and rose from the fartsack at 5:08 after convincing myself to get to Wolverine today. As I exited the house, I pulled up the Q sheet to see who was going to lead this beatdown…I was just glad it wasn’t me today! Oh Sh*t!! With approximately 4 minutes of prep time, we are off! Warm-Up Brisk jog down the path to the parking lot Hit the lines Circle up SSH Poorly executed cadence for Hillbillies…. [Read More]

17,884 days down; 1 to go.

What a great morning! We had EC runners & ruckers; ME boot campers, ruckers, stretchers and rehabbers; 2 FNGs; visitor from New Bern; and a wide spectrum of guys who have been with Carpex from its earliest days to those who have been posting for just a few days. As it was stated often today, “Who has it better than us?” On the eve of my 49th birthday, it’s safe to say that I am in the best physical, emotional and mental shape I’ve been, in a long time. Gran Torino @ Gran Torino...so meta

With a penchant for movie themed Qs and an AO named after a movie, it was only a matter of time…with a cooler full of PBRs and a dollop or two of gray hair coloring hair clay the scene was set. As I enjoyed a pre workout beverage whilst scowling in my lawn chair the Pax and ECers arrived. They looked excited. After the pledge, we took off, I muttered a disclaimer (no one gave me a disclaimer before shipping off to Korea). [Read More]

No Merkins Today, Boys!

After yesterday’s chest and shoulder Kitty Kluster at Sippery When Wet, YHC decided it to be leg and abs morning. With the Brave and Mighty Oliie posting for a solo 5-mile EC, the remaining 23 less motivated PAX assembled for the pledge and headed out on a mosey across High House for a warm up. Let it be noted that Pet Sounds posted, fresh from RDU and red-eye from Cali! [Read More]

Stretch Armstrong

Date: 5/6/2019, AO: Wolverine QIC: Parker 18 gathered in the beautiful Wolverine gloom, officially the gloomiest AO in all of Carpex. No FNGs, YHC really butchered the disclaimer this morning, and was hoping the beatdown would only get better from there. Pledge, and off we go. Warm up: 1/2 mile mosey to the parking lot near the basketball court at Davis Dr. Middle. Circle up for 20 SSH, calf stretch left x 10 count, 10 merkins IC, calf stretch right x 10 count, 15 merkins IC. Wild Card

It was a special morning at Danger Zone for YHC, with my long-time good buddy Hacksaw coming over from Raleigh to co-Q. Warm-Up Start with a lap around the pickle (including the stem at the entrance) then circle up on the basketball court for good mornings, windmills and imperial walkers. With the PAX properly warmed up Hacksaw tells them he knew YHC before I was known as Disco Duck, he knew me when it was Wild Bill Deese. [Read More]

The Jim Parsons Project

YHC rolled into the grounds of Flying Circus, arguably the finest AO in west Cary on a Thursday, to see a couple of HIMs already on the grounds. A few pull-ups are done at the baseball field, and eventually there’s a solid dozen ready for a good sweat-fest. Disclaimer is disclaimed, Allegiance is pledged, watches are started, and we’re off. Warm Up Mosey around the parking lot and circle up for Good Mornings, Steve Earles, Moroccan Night Clubs, Seal Claps, and Control Freak Merkins. [Read More]

Rocking to the '80's

In the gloom, Girls Just Want to Have Fun! Warm-up With the mission stated, the disclaimer declaimed, and the pledge solemnly uttered, the Pax launched to the upper parking lot to circle up. The tunes were rolling and so were we for 2.5 miles over the course of the workout. It began with Side Straddle Hops Good Mornings Sir Fazio Arm circles forward and back Overhead claps Seal Claps Merkins Calf Stretch Thang One Warmed up, me moseyed to the kiosk for a set of 7’s up and down the hill. Brother Bri and the letter B

When scrolling through the Exicon in search for new ideas that have not (to YHC’s knowledge) been executed in/around Carpex and you don’t even get past the letter B… you know it’s going to be a good day. _NMS: YHC was ready for EC this morning, but the old bowels had another idea in mind. EC was skipped for a trip to Harris Teeter and back._ 22 Bros meet up at the Field of Dreams. [Read More]
