Solar Eclipse!

Today is the day for the solar eclipse so I felt compelled to create a workout that was both challenging and fun, relating as much as I could to the special astrological day. 21 PAX gather in the humid, gloom day for the themed-event. We take off down the road in a mosey imitating, the sun and moon traversing the sky. We make it, after a backwards run up the hill, to the first eclipse over Oregon for: [Read More]

Step by Step

Life is a series of steps. For the first 25 years or so, you are basically pushed down a series of steps. Elementary school, little league baseball, driver’s license, first job, then usually college or in my case, the military. In the Army, every step of your life is controlled almost 24 x 7. My three years in the 82nd Airborne Division were challenging and fun but when I got out, the day I got out, the minute I signed my last form, I was lost. Pickled!

It’s hard to write the backblast for my VQ without getting somewhat reflective and sentimental, but I’ll save that for the NMS at the bottom of the post. The group took off doing the Smokey Shuffle up the hill to warm-ups. Warm-ups (12 count each) – SSH, Good Morning, Calf Stretch, Merkins, Mt. Climbers Thing 1 – The Dirty Dozen – LBCs at the bottom of the hill and Carolina Dry Docks at the top totaling 12 reps for each lap. [Read More]

Extra Spicy

Pre-BB In 1785, William Cowper wrote a poem he entitled, “The Task.” In it, Cowper wrote the famous idiom, “Variety is the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor.” And so it was that SNS this morning was Extra Spicy. BB When the guy who first invited you to F3 asks for help, you help him. I gladly said “yes” when Water Wings asked for a Q sub today. [Read More]

Hitting and Running for the Cycle

It was so hot, I thought we were at Dante’s Peak….then I realized I only drove 2 mins to the AO….not 20 mins. The Insomnia extra credit boys (Large Mouth, Hermes, Callahan, Pet Sounds and PBX) came running follow my Mr. Rucker (Bartman) as we circled up to get started. Nice work men. 73 degrees, feels like 88, clear, no wind. Theme for today was baseball given the 2nd F Bulls outing on Sunday. [Read More]
