Celebrating the King

A crisp morning greeted thirteen PAX as they descended upon the best lit Tuesday morning AO in all of Carpex. YHC and 6 others, including colleague Arts n Crafts from Chicago, were led by Repeato on a little EC run on the greenways around the Scottish Hills neighborhood. It’s 5:45, so time to get started. Jog to the left parking lot (after going back for phone and bluetooth speaker that would come into play later. [Read More]

Merkinpalooza

When you arrive at Tortoises early you have to join Theismann in ECPs. Spartan, MaBell, Red Ryder and Theismann were already knocking them out, so I did a couple sets with them. I had prepared music to last 52 minutes, so at 5:23am the mellow piano of Floyd Cramer (playlist is below) greeted the 29 PAX as they stumbled in from the gloom. At 5:30 we moseyed over to the front lot, circled up and did: [Read More]

The Bay of Fundy

I did something this morning that I have never done. No, not that. I Q’ed an AO where I had never posted. But it was the last one on the list and it needed to be done. And it was fitting that Term Paper was there to present me with the Award for Q’ing all AOs before the end of the year. (Note: One of the statements above is not true. [Read More]

1stF #6 of 7 BD & F3’versary Q-week: Technical difficulties and assumptions did not sway the beatdown - Plan B modification at its best

The morning was wonderful. I had my plan all ready to go so I was not worried. I arrived to Seymour Park early. I was ready so I got out of the car and started to stretch. Theismann shows up to do some EC pull-ups. I went with him for fellowship. I’m still bummed that I cannot do regular pull-ups … injuries suck!!! About fifteen minutes left to start Hotty Toddy shows up so I flapped jack with him and headed back to the flag to prepare. [Read More]

Gut Buster Pre-Party

With the Carpex Christmas Party coming up this evening YHC thought it’d be good to work those bellies. Temps were a bit chilly and ice was abound but 15 pax skated right through the beatdown. We started with 12, then Two Factor arrived during warm up, then Khakis arrived later in the warmup, then finally McIlroy during the first Thang. We did burpees for Two Factor but not knowing how many more pax might show up throughout the morning we stopped it right there. [Read More]

Changing of the Guard

Due to technical issues, there is not a way to have the QIC list both Beaker and YHC as the QIC but he was in the mix and deserves the glory. Warm-up Beaker led all the PAX from the flag over to the other lower parking lot and back again to get the legs moving. Once we circled back up we enjoyed a few other treats: SSH x 20 Windmills x 10 Slow Count Merkins x 10 Good Mornings x 10 Thang 1 [Read More]

Miles for Merkins

YHC was excited about Gran Torino since it was announced. Not being a hi-tempo kinda guy, posting at this new hi-tempo workout presents a challenge, the kind of challenge YHC seeks. But leading the workout? That’s enough to make even a grizzled veteran a little anxious. The PAX are expecting a proper and thorough beatdown, so at 05:30 (by the QIC’s watch) we’re off. Warm-Up A quick pledge at the flag, and mosey safely across the street to the tennis park parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, and the Disco Special, 10 burpees OYO. Cold Burpees

It was a cold morning at the finest AO in NW Cary, on a Thursday morning. The mumblechatter abounded on slack about the impending Burpee beatdown and there were still two dozen PAX in attendance. Here is how it went down…. Disclaimer to two FNGs - Welcome Molson and Ratchet! At 5:45 sharp many PAXs were surprised as YHC started jogging. Quick warm up run to the front middle school parking lot for some warm up. [Read More]

10-20-30-40 + Rocks

It was a beautiful morning. 47 degrees, a bit damp…a good day for F3. I just returned from NYC and was slightly unprepared… though it didn’t stop me. 23 PAX were waiting for me with my on-time arrival with a minute to spare. Banjo was not so lucky…yes, you guessed it, penalty burpies for Banjo’s “not-so” on-time arrival. The Start The Pledge We then jogged (plus side shuffles) up to DDMS in anticipation to find the rock pile along Davis Dr. [Read More]

The Princess Bride

Today the brute squad assembled early in the fields of Florin to enjoy a workout that would include Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles. However the pax wasn’t impressed and responded. “Doesn’t sound too bad. I’ll try to stay awake”, “Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming” dread pirate pivot answered back…. A quick warm-up lap around the parking lot and then circle up to meet the characters [Read More]
