And I Thought No One Was Coming

YHC forgot this was the 4 year anniversary of Shut-In (1/5/15 officially) so last week finding an empty Q slot at HBs was perfect! YHC and The Joker did some ECPs while we waited for pax to show. I thought no one was coming but at 0525 the parade of headlights flooded the park. 15 pax were up and ready to go at 0530 for the disclaimer and pledge. Pax # 16 joined us after our loop around the pickle for warmup. [Read More]

Merkinpalooza

When you arrive at Tortoises early you have to join Theismann in ECPs. Spartan, MaBell, Red Ryder and Theismann were already knocking them out, so I did a couple sets with them. I had prepared music to last 52 minutes, so at 5:23am the mellow piano of Floyd Cramer (playlist is below) greeted the 29 PAX as they stumbled in from the gloom. At 5:30 we moseyed over to the front lot, circled up and did: [Read More]

Backblast

Is it gonna rain, or isn’t it. Last night Steve said it was likely to rain. This morning, he’s saying it won’t. 17, er, 18 HIMs braved the uncertainty that is the iPhone weather app and posted on a near-perfect 50 degree November morning. First exercise, the Pledge of Allegiance Warm Up Pet Sounds arrives. Slow count Good Mornings, Sir Fazio arm circles, overhead claps, Steve Earles, Cotton Pickers, and Merkins (on my down AND up). 2 Minutes DIDS us in

Disco Duck warned us that the gates of Hells Bells don’t open until almost 5:30, so I didn’t plan on being early. I drove to the shelter to set up station signs that got both compliments and flack for being laminated (no Pickles I won’t autograph one for you). FNG Two Factor met me outside the shelter and I pointed him to the normal starting spot. 5:30 came quickly after that. [Read More]

A little name calling (and poo slinging) after some pre announced shoulder work

A brisk cold morning met us today as we disembarked from the toasty warm cars at Hells Bells this morning. What is that Snots and Squatter running in? and Pickles dressed for the summer? Seems like the Odyssey hangover was still in the air this morning. Promptly at 5:30 (yes Squatter, the Qs time piece is always correct), we did two slow laps around the pickle to try to get the blood flowing. [Read More]

Rocking the Kettle Bells

Rocking the Kettle Bells Nothing fancy. Kinda vanilla but any vanilla workout with 80’s rock music is all good. YHC went back to the good old days of rock and pulled out 10 all time favorite songs so we could rock the bells at Hells Bells. On the musical agenda were: Journey - Wheel in the Sky Bob Seger - Night Moves (Mandatory for Disco Duck) Guns N Roses - Sweet Child of Mind Heart - Barracuda Ozzy - Crazy Train Boston - More than a feeling Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin' [Read More]

B R aRen't

18 Pax made it out to Hunter Street Park for a lovely 74 degree and 94 percent humid morning. Slack chatter was looking for an unfriendly BRR beatdown. Lots of mileage was logged yesterday so YHC agreed. See, not always Angry Shutty. Sometimes Very Accomodating Shutty. Here’s what went down after the 0545 disclaimer and Shut-In Shignature warmup… Thang 1: Plank-o-rama First pax took a lap around the soccer field fence and circled back up at the skate park.
