Cherries and Pain Sticks

Pre-Blast This being my virgin Q and my first time at SNS, I truly appreciate all the support and advice from the PAX. Special thanks go to Angry Elf for the pep talk the night before and for planning the Thang with the pain sticks. I do wish I had made it to Q school. It is amazing how much I didn’t pick-up naturally from two months of just doing the workouts. [Read More]

The LBJ

Kryponite was my 1st Carpex Post so why not go back to where it all started for my VQ to see how much I have improved from that cold January beat down. The adrenaline/nerves were high as we started 30 seconds early with a mosey to the large parking lot by the Koka booth entrance. I had one thing in mind for the 14 PAX who joined me on this adventure and that was high tempo. 10/5/18, The Liuzzo Scale of Magnitude of Vanillaness

5 for 7800° EC 3 mile run around the glorious Symphony Lake. 22 were there for the start of the standard issue vanilla boot camp, one could not handle the pressure and had to leave early. After the Pledge of Allegiance, we jogged to the parking deck for a standard Shut-In warmup followed by 70 LBCs in Cadence. Then went down the stairs and got in position for BTTW 5 count down the line and back, then we did some more LBCs, then we partnered up for Dora 1,2,3 with 100 Merkins, 200 calf raises and 300 LBCs. Disco Duck was the Q

Thanks to Term Paper for swapping Q’s with me this week, I’ve been looking forward to leading a downtown Cary workout in the morning for a change. Another beautiful morning in downtown Cary, three PAX (Chipper, Lite-Brite, Yoga Mat) for the Meow Mile EC run, zero PAX drinking EC milk, lots of guys in orange shirts. Thanks to Burt for bringing a bag of extra orange shirts #OrangeForDarth Some of the PAX noticed a TV news crew at the corner of Academy and Chatham, so let’s head that way. [Read More]

A Vanilla Birthday Bomb

I tried. Really, I did. I posted to Slack that it would be a workout devoid of anything interesting. There would be nothing to encourage anyone to show up. But people did anyway. 13 stalwarts with absolutely nothing else to do this morning yawned there way through an utterly vanilla workout. I was kinda hoping to stand around till 6 AM and then hit the Starbucks but at some point someone said, “Hey, is there anything going on in the park? Flacco's Shock & Awe!

DATE: September 27, 2018 QIC: Sabre AO: Bradford’s Ordinary PAX: (including Bruisers) 29 total gathered in Gloom of DTC (23 boot camp, 6 Bruisers, including a 1-legged Kitty, or is it Das Boot?!) 8 respects , 6 hates, 0 FNGs So I learned what “shock & awe” pre-blast means to Flacco – it means that he is going to hype an epic beatdown, then scoot out-of-state, give the ole neighbor a call to say …. The role of Largemouth will be played by his understudy

With just under 12 hours on the clock before the start of Kryptonite, the call went out that Largemouth was dealing with a stomach bug. So I dusted off the script, prepped for the part and took the stage as the Q for a morning performance. And although the audience was visible upset, no one left the theatre and demanded their money back. We mosey across the street (hold up, car right) to the parking lot. [Read More]

ScareFlo

The Carpex social medias were abuzz the past few days: would the AOs be open on Friday? Turns out the answer was yes, as Hurricane Florence’s weather held off just enough for the men to safely post across Carpex. That being said, the followers of DangerZone across the globe wondered who the QIC would be. With @shutincarpex signed up with the Q, the weather was still very suspicious, so Shut-In understandably opted to stay closer to home. Rain Dance for Flo

Hurricane’s a-comin’… calves are burning… maybe we do want a little bit of rain! No FNGs, Follow Me! Head out the road on which we came in, stopping to give time for Scarecrow to catch up for Good Mornings. Continue to the intersection for 10 Penalty Burpees OYO, followed by Imperial Walkers. Turn left toward the schools, stopping at the next intersection (pickle) for Windmills, Calf Stretches, and Standard Merkins. [Read More]
