Battle Rope Monday

Two weeks ago, Squatter busted out a battle rope at FWD. I loved how much I hated it, so I ordered one for my home gym (aka, 8 square feet in my garage, usually covered by tricycles). Fast forward to my VQ. A-Team leans problematic, and I suspected the VQ trainwreck might draw some additional bodies, so I tried to brainstorm some ways to corral the masses. I settled on Battle Rope Monday. How you planned may not always be how it happens.

Date: 5/20/19 PAX: EarharT, Intimidator, Monkey Nut, Quiver, Shut-in, WWW I had a planned routine going to the workout but during the initial mosey, I had a random synapse firing in my brain when I took notice of the inclined walkway to the amphitheater. I’m going to change it up and do 11’s. The reason for 11s is we do not do enough of it at HB so I wanted it to be the star thang. [Read More]

No Words + Plankful

ShutIn let me know that he had to abandon his Q last night. I was prepared with a great beatdown and even pre-blasted a last minute Q change to get PAX interested. But when Yogi arrived, storming in from his EC run, he enthusiastically (is Yogi ever anything except enthusiastic?) asked to take over the Q. We hadn’t seen him at Tortoises in a couple of months and he was more than excited to lead us. [Read More]

Limited Run Spartan Training (#2)

QIC: Parker AO: Tortoises (5/15/19) Yep, Build-a-Bear is still in my head about the grip strength for this Spartan Super in July. Having the Tortoises Q, YHC knew there were plenty of options to work on some upper body and grip strength at the loveliest AO in central Apex on a Wednesday. So let’s get after it! Warm up: Mosey about 500 feet and circle up. Even that was too far for Frisco, of course chanting the standard “I thought this was a limited run AO! [Read More]
