The Freedom Trail July 4th Convergence

@Qwerty, @Red Ryder and YHC met last week to plan the 2019 July 4th Convergence hoping to create something special. Our goal was to keep the PAX together in order to preserve fellowship and maybe a few exercises in-between. The disclaimer was disclaimed, the F3 Mission was delivered and Whitney Houston’s Star Spangled Banner put the PAX in a USA state of mind that included a Fly Over courtesy of Delta. [Read More]

Start spreading the news

Sixteen go-getters decided that the prospect of a 60-minute Bartman Q was somehow more attractive than the spectre of 90 minutes of Banjo, and I don’t blame them. So as not to disappoint, we gathered up, gave what was judged to be a minimally viable disclaimer, and headed to the community center parking lot, with some fortunate restraint shown by ToC’s BFT-wielding CheddarBo. We warmed up. SSH, GM, you know, the popular favorites. [Read More]

Shawn's Bullpen

Got word that the Lowther (aka Chanticleer) Household was experiencing some sicknesses so I was ready to answer the call. Thursday 7 PM it was official, I would be running the show at GT. You know, I am the 3rd-wheel site Q there. And it has been a long time since I have Q’d, so it was meant to be. 13 gathered, 2 had on backpacks, one drove a 15 passenger van, and all where hoping to see Chanticleer. [Read More]

Q-School: Exam Day

It was a good day for a VQ, thanks to the perfect mix of humidity, heckling, helpful encouragement, and reminders from Shut-In that the things he brought up in Q school were better applied than remembered. Despite lots of “you’re starting at SNS?” questions we’re off. Mosey in the unusual direction from the flag, getting started at the ropes course parking lot. After a brief attempt to keep up appearances by suggesting that Build-a-Bear was passing the test in observing my counting woes, we found the correct combination of pauses and cadences to get going. Core work at FOD 6-25-19

3 guys did some ECP or something b/c they think South Cary couldnt handle it. I think it started at 5ish. 5:45 - “Disclaimer” was stated, literally. Follow me, the path around the ball fields is closed, like with a fence closed in case you were wondering. Do some penalty burpees for YHC not knowing this. Jog over to the nice soft field and circle up for some warm up stuff. [Read More]

Murph 11 of 19 in 2019

Pre-Blast 16 HIM pushed themselves to their personal limits at HB as part of the 11th of 19 Murphs in 2019. So proud of these guys…everyone was gassed on the last mile. It takes a lot of courage and discipline to push yourself that way. Just awesome. #StrongerBacksStrongerHearts Warmup Because CheddarBo slept in and the gate was locked, we launched from the lower lot. After reciting the Pledge at the Flag, each man grabbed a kettle bell and slow jogged to the pull-up bars. [Read More]

The answer to Life, the Universe and Everything....

YHC didn’t sleep very soundly the night before Q-ing at Phoenix, and wasn’t sure why - perhaps the anticipation of clocking another year old and wiser (?) or perhaps the gnawing feeling of a half planned Q. Whatever the reason, I found myself wide awake at 5, so used the time constructively to complete the Q plan and put in a solid 45 minutes of EC around the beautiful Bond Park……by 06:25 there were only a couple of other PAX beginning to form a rather anaemic looking circle in the senior center parking lot….
