Vanilla String of Pearls 7/13/18

YHC is nearing the mid-point of the July Tour De Carpex and saw a Q opening back where it all began at The Premier North Cary Friday AO. After staying up all night with the Boys at Flacco’s 2nd F, 24 got up with the Men to workout. Chhanticleer and Largemouth got in a 4.something EC run (note that both were not seen at Flacco’s the night before). I’m confident Term Paper would have been on time, but that HIM stepped up to pick up Capt. The Oregon Trail

Today we took a trip back to the Elementary School Library to play the classic computer game ‘Oregon Trail’ 16 of us decided to take on the challenge and travel west in search of a better life. We gathered in Independence, MO to warm up and decide if we should be a Farmer (Sprinkler and Cotton Pickers), a Banker (Good Mornings, I’m assuming a banker would say Good Morning), or a Carepenter (Merkins…there is no tie in, but merkins are always good). We came, we exercised, we relocated rocks, we wrote our backblast

It was good to Q at ol’ FOD this morning - had been a while. A strong crowd of 28 gathered - including Kilmer in a Cabriolet (back in my day - only sorority girls drove those)….. hmmm. Oh well - follow me - YHC said softly and started running up the parking lot through the dark path and up the road to the mailbox. Once there, we circled up for GM x18, IW x 14, HB x 12, SF Arm Circles - 10 each way, 10 seal claps and 10 overhead claps. [Read More]

The Ultimate Workout

A few weeks ago YHC and WWW traveled north to the The Farm to help celebrate Spit Valve’s Q Week. The first half was a typical, well executed and thorough beatdown, but the second half was something new for us. It was a game of Ultimate Frisbee, with penalties doled out whenever the frisbee reached the end zone or touched the ground. It was thrilling and on our drive back we agreed we definitely had to bring it back to Carpex. [Read More]

What's that smell?

AO: Full Metal Jacket QIC: Pickles Twelve PAX were assembled in the soupy pre-dawn gloom, and ready to go for YHC’s first ever FMJ Q. Gather at the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance and we’re off on a nice easy mosey. A couple of cars came rolling in as we pulled away – someone’s tardy, and we’ll all have to pay. Circle up at the first drive way for… WHOAH! [Read More]

Fun With Numbers

YHC had the idea of doing a mini beast and 7s and so it just grew from there… Warmup: SSW (Signature Shut-In Warmup) Thang 1 - 6s: Mini Beast (6 laps of 3 exercises performed 6 times each) - 6 Merkins, 6 Pull Ups, 6 Monkey Humpers (run a lap) x 6 Thang 2 - 7s: Sprints / Hand Release Merkins Thang 3 - 8s: Shelter Work - This was supposed to be 2 sets of 4 exercises (= 8s) but the group was so chatty I said, let’s keep going! 37 is the new 47

It was a hot June night in the year of our Lord 1981. Judy and Ralph (his friends call him Dice) Jodice welcomed their first born son (of 3) into this world. The heavens shook and the Devil pooped his pants, for life as we knew it would never be the same again. 37 years later and YHC drives a small(ish) SUV, has 2 kids, a wife, an IRA and a 529 account for his children. Return to the Bridge

AO: Flirtin w/Disaster June 26, 2018 Weather forecasts can be an inconvenient distraction. After days of threats (90% chance of rain, thunder!) Build-a-Bear calls a pop-up EC three miler, departing 0430. Not a rain drop in sight. Such was the beginning of a muggy morning at YHC’s first pre-arranged Q at Flirtin’ w/Disaster. Some of the PAX may have suffered a flash back to YHC’s disorderly pop-up Q at this very AO about a month earlier, where we spent quality time on and across the US1/64 pedestrian bridge. [Read More]
