RED

We had a couple of visitors from out of town this morning, Monk from F3 The Capital (and before that Gastonia), and Red Baron from wherever Living Legends come from. Warm-Up Disclaimer and Pledge, mosey around the parking lot and grab some curb for three rounds of quick feet and curb irkens, then to the top of the deck and circle up for cherry pickers, arm twirlies, seal claps, hillbillies and a round of Good Mornings expertly led by Crimson. A Squatty Party

15 HIM of which 18 were Steve’s ( SixteenSteves + Ryder + Cataracts) were ready to move and warm-up. YHC has been dealing with some shoulder problems and needed to keep this Q below the pits. Having primed the Pax with the upcoming “Leg Day” pre-blast I needed to deliver. Ryder called it a traveling warm-up, I called it “keep yo ass moving” as we lapped a quick run out of the parking lot and around just to get everyone moving. [Read More]

Escargot, my car go

I came across a news story Tuesday that the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees had been announced. I don’t remember how the news came to catch my attention but catch it it did. Start with the fact that two of my favorite bands were on the list (again) and that I hadn’t even heard of a couple others and I got intrigued. An hour or so later, not only had I created a little Spotify playlist to listen to at home, but an idea for a Q was developing as well. [Read More]

Wow, things are changing around here

I had the honor today to Q at the still relatively new Hot for Teacher - just minutes away from where i used to live about 10 years ago. Although I drive by here frequently, I can’t believe the development… oh well - its 530 - off we go. Oh wait - FNG - just for grins - i had Nature Boy do the disclaimer - (well worth it). I do hope that FNG Bobby Boucher does return…. [Read More]

Groundhog Day in October

Monday of this week I was at A-Team and a few PAX brought it up to me that my DP Q was the day before the Odyssey and I should probably “take it easy on’em with the mileage..and the Mary.” Apparently our boy Squatter had put a hurtin’ on them last year at HIS DP Q the day before Odyssey and there was some griping or somethingorother… Being somewhat new to Q’ing, in the back of my head I was thinking “well, what the hell’s left? Bear Crawls and Lunge Walks and Crab Walks, Oh My!

It’s not everyday you have the opportunity to take charge at Carpex’s only AO to completely ignore copyrights and trademarks in its inaugural T-shirt….actually, it’s only Fridays. But every Friday, so I guess it’s less special than I thought. I hope that’s not how the PAX felt about the Q today. Beaker’s Beginnings **(The Warm-Up) **At 0545, we synchronized swatches and were off. We left the Stoners to their thing. Jog to the back of the school, through the refreshing mist of the sprinklers, to the top path for warm-ups. [Read More]

Changing of the Guard

The time has come for the guard to change at Wolverine. Bogo and Pivot completed their time at the helm. They did and amazing job, continuing what Hi-Liter and Biner so graciously began two years ago. The workout and transition went something like this. Well, maybe it was a little more American. Maybe not quite that patriotic and brave. More like this. Yes, the workout today was based on the GHHS Color Guard conditioning routines which are set to music. [Read More]

Glory Days at Dante’s Peak

Mission: Revisit Al Bundy’s legendary four touchdown game for the Polk High Panthers with a football practice style workout Warm Up: Mosey around the outside of the park back to the end of the parking lot at a *medium* pace, stretch a little (good mornings / calf stretches) then pay the piper (59 SSHs (with a break for half time), one for every point the Dolphins allowed in Week 1, plank for a 43 count, one for every point allowed in Week 2, and 23 merkins for the spread in Week 3) - Tanking for Tua has a price, people! Unexpected Hurdles

I’ve posted at a few other AOs, but I’ve mostly been coming out to Wolverine since I live right across the street. I’m definitely still learning the ropes and so when Pivot asked me to VQ I took the chance. I didn’t feel ready at all but I figured I’d better jump at the opportunity otherwise I’d never volunteer to do it. We had 20 PAX in attendance and there were no FNGs. [Read More]
