Consistently DZ

There has been one constant in 2021 for YHC - DZ on Fridays with Saban. 3 for 3 so far! What better way to celebrate by hosting a classic DZ beatdown - no need to travel super far for this one. Gather up, no FNG, and also no Flag, so no Pledge. Disclaimer, Mission, Follow Me! Leave the park, take two lefts, and down Cary Parkway. Back into the park via the South entrance to the foot of bear crawl bridge. [Read More]

Shutty's Ladder

YHC had an amazing beatdown planned for the tennis courts of Claymore this morning, but overnight rains left the courts way too slippery. So instead the boys of Carpex got this. Warm-Up Mosey around the pickle to the rock pile and circle up for Imperial Walkers, Sir Fazios, cherry pickers, and the opposite of copperhead merkins (name TBD). The Thang Grab a travelling rock from the rock pile for travelling rock sevens. [Read More]

A-Team (6 Years Later)

The title of this backblast is a tip of the cap to Nabisco’s original backblast title “A-Team” six years ago. Just like his Q then, my Q today was flawlessly executed. 16 pax 6 years ago, 26 today (27 pax at COT having McCants join us - which is perfect as he was there 6 years ago with 75%) showed up to help YHC celebrate. I enjoy recreating this beatdown each year but with some modifications. [Read More]

Quest for 8 Q Challenge ... Day 2 #2 Claymore

Date: 12/15/2020 PAX: Cataracts, Chewie, EarharT, Frisco, Happy Gilmore, Intimidator, Kwik Stop, Mama’s Boy, Pickles, Red Ryder, Reentry, Roasters, Suck Up, WWW Day 2.1 of the quest. I noticed that as I’m preparing the workout, it is not that easy. I always try to make multiple workouts different so it keeps the PAX guessing. But I do have my favorite routines and the thang I have planned can be modified in so many different ways that it is not boring. [Read More]

Respect Week Closer - Phoenix Style

Date: 11/21/20 PAX: @WWW @Pigeon @Pierogi @Saban @heythere @baywatch @En Garde @Wrench @Entitlement @Big Red @hgtv @Kwik Stop @Happy Gilmore @VHS @Ollie @Kidney Stone Burt made the call out for Respects to pick-up a Q this week. It was a call to challenge Respects to lead the PAX to grow and accelerate. The amazing part of being a Respect is age is a number and not a discriminator. Respects can bring it and I have been a part of two Respect Qs this week and they brought it. [Read More]

Coming Home and a Whole Bunch of Nickels

Preamble When Respect Week was announced, I immediately signed up to Q BO. You see, BO was where YHC’s first post occurred and where Ma Bell was born. Make no mistake: the couple of other so-called Ma Bells across F3 Nation are but impostors. There is only one Ma Bell. But I digress. Anyway, it is for this reason, as well as the fact that this is the best AO in CarPex in terms of variety and history, that I have an emotional attachment here. [Read More]

Not A Flip Flop - Frisco Co-Q

The word on the Slack channel #ao-fri-dangerzone was that Frisco would be gracing his us with his presence, and maybe Qing as well. There was even some Slack DM chatter of a possible co-Q between YHC and Frisco. We really only have one thing in common: 1. We are both handsome. Other than that, we are more of a Yin-and-Yang. Differences are plentiful: one dude is a masterful Q—one dude f*%#s up every Q, one dude calls perfect cadence—one dude can’t count, one dude is a legend—one dude is a legend in his own mind, one dude has a cemented Slack name—one dude appends his name daily, ……. Great job naming the "bridge," Tang...we've only called it that for always

I like this AO site…there’s a reason it hosts 3 of CARPEX’s workouts every week. I posted a bit early to scout the site for my ideas, said farewell to the EC bubbas and headed into the Gloom of Apex Community Park. I had originally planned on the Dora encompassing the loop from the pavilion all the way around the utility access trail and back through the parking lots (approx. . [Read More]

An ode to ConPAINment Area

Friday’s workout at DZ was supposed to have been Q’d by Mr. Original, the one, the first, the only, Louis CK. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to come out which leaves us only a couple of weeks before The Godfather of Raleigh and Founder of CARPEx takes his leave from NC. Hopefully he’ll be back soon. In the meantime, the workout turned out to be more of an ode to the ConPAINment Area, including a throw back to a couple early BB from Cary. [Read More]
