A great start

I’ll be the first to admit that I did loose some sleep night before, I did end up rewriting my workout ideas multiple times, I did have some anxiety. And once we got rolling that morning I did suffer a bit from my winke. Mumble chatter was prominent, for certain. But I was warned. Despite all that after all was said and done it sure did feel good. What a great start. [Read More]

We Have Liftoff

AO Launch Day. YHC was a bit nervous about attendance because there had been zero Slack hype for this event during the lead up. Despite that fact, a lot of folks somehow showed up to be part of the emergence from stealth mode. YHC knew something major was afoot when Ma Bell decided to again venture into “the eastern regions of his former kingdom” for not only the ME but an EC run taboot. Peace at SWW / Crazy sheet abroad

YHC loves his annual (less if it can be avoided) trips to AOs below Route 1 but the Friday ones are doubly special. Once a DZ’er, always a DZ’er after all. But with the holiday-ish week upon us and the 2.0s not yet in school, tis the time to commit to a 20+ minute commute and see how the other half lives. And boy is it a different world down here in Car-ner Springs. [Read More]

Release The Hounds

16 for the main event and 8 for the pre-run on what started out as a pretty normal Monday morning - 40ish degrees in December, a plan to cover some ground with a few exercises thrown in, and Burt yelling my hospital name before we even left the parking lot. But we eventually got into the Regency neighborhood where someone released their pair of attack dogs as we were doing hill repeats in front of their driveway. [Read More]

Run Out of Ideas? Just call Merkins

Preamble Disco Duck put out the challenge on Thursday. “Who’s man enough to Q The Green Mile?” Well hell, being RESPECT Week and all, I can’t ignore something like that. So sign up I did. With the Nation converging in Pinehurst, I started crootin’. Got a couple of nibbles on Slack and lo and behold, 9 of us showed up for Carpex’ premier 90 minute AO on a Saturday morning (notwithstanding Whiplash which is not actually in Carpex - unless Shutty has declared Imminent Domain on that bitch. This Q brought to you by Google Maps

What does one do when they aren’t familiar with the area and yet have signed up to Q for? Use Google Maps of course! So many trails and well lit sidewalks in the area… probably already been done… honestly all I could see were the rows and rows of houses neatly tucked around cul de sacs. And not small houses either, the kind of houses that probably wouldn’t take lightly 20 hooligans dressed in mostly black and encroaching on their homestead. [Read More]

The Triple Nickel

It’s BRR Season, and that means hills and excessive (debatable) running at most AO’s, especially if you’re not on a BRR team. Today was no exception, and 13 studs posted at the earliest AO in all of Carpex this warm, muggy morning, several of whom just ran the Maynard the day before. I remember when Recovery-sacking was customary after a Maynard. Those good ‘ole days were just last year! I wanted to ensure I was prepared, so in the event a pax or two were just adamantly opposed to doing the BRR Prep workout, I had something special for them, though I advised against it. [Read More]
