Just be ready!

Back in 2016, I decided to go to the gym the week after Christmas. Be committed and show up BEFORE all those people that start in January. I was on a mission to be less chubby and more healthy. Spin class two days a week. That was the answer! But Lifetime didn’t offer a morning class on Fridays at the Apex gym. Crimson had been pressuring nagging encouraging me to try his new workout group F3. [Read More]

Going the distance

Gran Torino has become one of my favorite AOs. It draws a wide variety of pax, and those that come are tough customers. Today was no exception. As my first post there this year due to travel and work, I was eager to set a good example, especially as co-site Q’s @largemouth and @chanticleer were present. 5 for one EC run, a few others for another, and even more for EC PYPs, meant pretty much everyone was warmed up at go-time. The Indy 500

Preamble YHC was thinking about what to do when a post on some social media site or another fell into my lap talking about the Indy 500, something someone from Indianapolis had brought to the PAX to Minneapolis. Well, well, well. Not above shameless mimicry, I had me the makings of a Q The morning started with a pre-blasted EC run as well as the do-not-call-it-Vesper run at 0510. The czar of calf sleeves hisownself, Beaker, joined YHC for the standard end-end EC run while 4 elites took off for the West Cary hinterlands, not to be seen again until COT all sweaty and bloody nippled. Ultimate Frisbee!!!!!

After seeing a post about starting up a sports AO, I was inspired to lead an ultimate Frisbee workout. Luckily I own an LED Frisbee, so we can play in the dark, add a few glow bracelets for team identification and were good to go. After gathering in the parking lot and a pretty poor recitation of the disclaimer for the FNG, we mosey to the frozen tundra of flying circus. [Read More]

2020...Year of the Absolution

Small crowd for Insomnia this morning: YHC, Michelob, Largemouth, GTL, Callahan & Beaker. 5:45. Disclaimer was “given.” Vespers go left, SNS’ers went right. Off to the grassy area behind Senior Center & Circle Up. Good Morning, Windmill, Arm Circles, Overhead Clap. Side Straddle Hop, Imperial Walker, Steve Earle, Mnt. Climber, Absolution. [Q NOTE: The Absolution is a simple 8 count exercise that I will continue to call at all of my Qs until all PAX present at the afore mentioned Qs knows how to do it and can perform 10 flawless reps. Miles and Merkins

Preamble Last time I signed up to Q Gran Torino, there were some shenanigans. I felt bad about pulling the wool over the PAX’ eyes with that masterful switcheroo in our annual Ninja Q Swap. So when I saw the opening on the Q sheet right after New Year’s I jumped on it to make amends. The pre-blast was apparently just ominous enough that a couple of PAX decided to ruck instead. Triple Crown

When Hola Gato put up a Q spot for the finest AO in NW Cary on a Thursday YHC immediately had flashbacks to the fun we had about a year ago when I took the lead. After a quick discussion with my shield lock about scheduling, it was decided we go for the Triple Crown and bring back the (mini) cooper. After greeting my shield lock at HFT, YHC made the trek to NW Cary arriving at 5:37. [Read More]

Is it mumblechatter or grumblechatter?

The grumblechatter was strong at Wolverine this morning, led by Her-‘I can’t get wet’-mes and Frank-‘a mosey can’t last longer than 0.4 miles’-lin. But we persisted. And YHC is grateful to get to improve. **Warm-up: **Jog (or was it a mosey)? over to the school lot Good Mornings; Imperial Walker; Hill Billy; Calf-stretch w/ Merkins; Butt Kicker; High Knees; Karaoke Thang 1: Groups of three for new-max pull-ups. First time through, set your baseline max. [Read More]

45 Minutes of Side Plank Star Crunch

Well who is that barreling in at exactly 5:44 am to West Cary’s best AO on a Thursday morning? It’s Trike with the flag, of course. Nevermind he lives like 2 minutes away. No FNGs, the Pledge is pledged, the mission of F3 is recited, and off we go. Warm Up 2 laps around the parking lot, then circle up for SSHs, Moroccan Night Clubs, Steve Earles, Plank Jacks, and CF Merkins. [Read More]
